BUG 5.2a SR 1: issues with various Bibles in Word Lists

1) Prioritize Bibel 82.

2) Open a new Word List, click Add, note that Bibel 82 is displayed as the default Bible, enter a passage (I used Philemon), and execute.

>> You get a Word List. No lemmas, of course, but the words and the word count is there.

3) Select all, right-click, and delete.

4) Now click Add again, switch to e g NRSV, and click outside the Add menu (executing isn't necessary).

5) Open Add again, and try to get back to Bibel 82.

>> It's not there. Nor is any other Swedish Bible. If I can use a Bible when it's prioritized, I would think I should be able to use it when it's not prioritized as well.

6) Go back to Add, select VGCLEM, enter a range, and execute.

>> The little wheel spins, but the list shows up empty.

Seems to be the same with several others (I tried Elzevir and Byz).

7) With a Greek NT selected, quickly and absentmindedly type in 'ruth' and hit Enter, without taking the time to look at the dropdown.

>> The list shows up, but in Swedish. I would prefer a warning I couldn't possibly miss. Especially if I'd entered something like Gen-Deut and then sat waiting for several minutes, only to realize I'd forgotten to switch the Bible from my last search...

Though if I've created a custom series of one OT and one NT, I would prefer if it simply switched over automatically.

Finally a question: what is the arrow icon in the reference box supposed to do? It doesn't seem to execute, it doesn't seem to do anything, and the tooltip says 'Reference', as if it was a question mark and not an arrow.

In Logos 5.2 SR-6, English interface (also reproducible in 5.2a SR-1):-

I can reproduce the generation of a Word List with NET displayed as default.

NET is not in the list for Add. It should never have been listed in the first place.

Seems to be the same with several others (I tried Elzevir and Byz).

Elzevir, Byz, TR1550MR, TR1894MR, WH1881MR produce empty lists.

The "Selected text.." method produces a message "Text does not contain any usable word data", but NET has usable data!

From Biblel 82(?) because mine came from the prioritized NET bible. If ESV is prioritized, the list shows Hebrew lemmas.

Not for me. I created a Word List, deleted the content again, opened Add, and clicked the arrow (the reference still showing in the box). Nothing happened.

I can reproduce this.

But like Dave noted, when you add selected text from the VGCLEM there is a notification bar "Text does not contain any usable word data." in the Word List Document that appears letting you know that there's no usable data in the resource. The same notification should appear when you select VGCLEM, enter a range and execute. I will create a case for Development to investigate this.

This is the expected behavior because you have selected the Greek NT which does not have the book of Ruth (OT book). So when you type Ruth it automatically selects the Bibel 82 (your prioritized Swedish Bible) and gives the first option in the drop down menu "BIBEL82 Ruth". If you had the ESV as your prioritized Bible it would show "ESV Ruth".

Though if I've created a custom series of one OT and one NT, I would prefer if it simply switched over automatically.

I will create a case for this suggestion.

It uses the data type and text of the preferred bible (NET or Bibel 82) but these are theoretically "unusable" as they have no morphology (lemmas)!

So I figured, but it is not a useful behaviour. It just forces me to sit waiting for a result I must then immediately delete in order to be able to do what I really wanted. If I've accidentally entered an OT book for an NT Bible (or the other way around), it shouldn't execute at all; it should give me a warning and wait for me to change either setting (except, like I said, if I have a custom series).

EDIT: Let me point out that this doesn't happen in Search. If I choose e g UBS4 there, Ruth and all other OT ranges are grayed out, and if I choose Ruth first and then UBS, it automatically switches back to All Passages.

Let me also point out that being able to do a Word List is useful even when I can't get any lemmas for that Bible. It takes me 20 seconds to get a Word List for Ruth, with the number of times each word is used. It took me 10-20 minutes to get the same information through Search.
