I inquired about what resources would be new to me if I ordered any of the new Anglican base packages. I then went through this list and looked up what smaller collections each of the resources are in which are still in pre-pub (most shipping soon). Then I figured out how much I'd save If I cancel all those pre-pub collections and order Anglican Diamond instead. It turned out to be totally worth it for me to do that. I saved $300. Woot!!
So if you've got a lot of this sort of thing on order in pre-pub, I'd encourage you to contact a sales rep and ask what titles would be new to you in the Anglican base packages:
You are so right, Rosie.
Did you know it is the same (on a smaller scale) with the Lutheran Gold package?
Thanks, that hadn't occurred to me. I don't have nearly as many Lutheran collections on pre-pub (only one that I can detect), so it might not end up being interesting to me. I'll ask my sales rep, though.
so did you deleted all those pre-pubs already?
Yes, I've deleted all the ones that have already downloaded for me, which was all of the above except the Hymnology Collection. I'm going to probably trust that that one will download when it's ready, and delete it too, but I might just check with Logos to be sure first. Also one volume of the Dix collection hasn't downloaded yet, but I'm sure it's coming soon.
Interestingly, these pre-pub collections are all shipping in the future (some as late as mid-May) for people who didn't buy the base packages. I'm not sure why they don't go ahead and release them if they're ready. But if you're eager to get them sooner, get a base package! [:)]
I'm not sure why they don't go ahead and release them if they're ready.
Rosie
Perhaps it's so people are suddenly flooded with Pre-Pubs at one time and so may be tempted to cancel some because of cash-flow issues. I seem to remember some time back, in the days before PrePub costs could be spread, some people were having to make hard choices because they couldn't afford all the PrePubs they had ordered at once.
Every blessing
Alan
(I've just read the above and wonder if it makes any sense. It does to me!)

It makes sense, but people have been complaining about the flood of pre-pubs releasing later this month and in early May anyway as it is. It doesn't seem like they've spaced them out that much, though I guess spreading them across two months is better than shipping them all in the same month.
Rosie, have you looked at the Sda base package? www.logos.com/sda
It may also be to avoid that people who haven't made up their mind yet buy the prepubs, and then ask for a refund when they end up buying a package instead. Processing a $20 refund probably costs them more than $20, so setting themselves up for a lot of refunds isn't exactly in their best interest.

I refuse to spend 10-20 hours doing that from the utter mess of a list they sent me. They should have set up the website properly before they launched the packages.

With the exception of the first and last items, none of this stuff appeals to me. In fact, I would literally rather be waterboarded than be forced to read most of this...stuff...which just reinforces for me the desperate need for a Biblical Studies Base Package. I would hate myself forever for glutting my hard drive with this stuff.
Still, it's nice to save money, and if you were already getting this stuff, it's obviously a good deal. There are about a dozen things in Anglican Diamond that I want, and just those things are worth the cost of the package, but I'm not going to swallow a herd of camels to get them. I'd rather do without.
FWIW, I had a very similar experience buying the Reformed Platinum. Several CP/Prepubs and other on my wishlist made it a no brainer to go with the Platinum.
I agree they should have set up the website properly, but this took me about 2 hours, and to save $300 that was worth it to me, though I didn't know in advance it was going to save me that much, nor how long it would take.
Cool!
One of the reasons why I haven't given any of the new packages any serious thought is becuase I just don't have the time right now to go through any of them and see what I already have and what I'd be getting for the price.
Logos, are there any plans to make pages that show us what resources we already own?
I used the online chat system rather than calling. I had an excel sheet of the new to me titles within 5 minutes.
Our web developers are hard at work on a new, dynamic comparison chart for base packages. This will roll out in the near future, and will soon after include the new base package tracks alongside the main Logos track.
Then I figured out how much I'd save If I cancel all those pre-pub collections and order Anglican Diamond instead.
I'm curious about how long a complete re-index will now take?
Are you planning a new super-computer?
Hoping to avoid having to do that for some time.
Not in the near future, though I did just order a new laptop since my old one died. It'll be fast enough, but not a super computer. My desktop is still adequate for me for now.
My desktop is still adequate for me for now.
Rosie,
Is this a ultimate super-computer! A Desktop with style and attitude!
Well, it would be my ultimate desktop!
Sorry, Alan. No offense toward you, but no Mac would ever be my "ultimate" choice for a computer.
Here are the specs on my current Windows desktop which was quite the beast when I bought it over three years ago. It's still doing quite well, even with all the hard work I throw at it.
[;)]
Well, Rosie, if you won't buy it for yourself, then I'll happily let you buy it for me!
Easter blessings
