I've a question: Will the "Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament" integrate in Logos 4, using the "Parallel Passages" section of the passage guide? Or will it only turn up under "Commentaries"?
It shows up only under "Commentaries" in the Passage Guide. The "Parallel Passages" section is used to show, not quotes of OT in NT, but passages which are parallel, that is repeats (variations) of the same pericope, evidently coming from the same shared source; for example, in the synoptic gospels.
The Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament wouldn't really make sense to include in Parallel Passes. It's a commentary. You can see some sample pages at Amazon.com.
As I'm going through 1 Peter it has been the most valuable commentary in my arsenal.
I agree that this is a very useful commentary, mostly due to the fact that it is specialized in its focus.
Yes, it's a great commentary. Another book that has a professor of mine (Rikk Watts) as a contributor! :-)
I have both the scholar's gold, platinum and the portfolio. I cannot seem to find this commentary in my library. Should it have been in one of the collections?
You can buy it as a stand alone or as part of the Baker Hermeneutics Collection: http://www.logos.com/products/details/4491 Both are on my wish list!
When the question comes up about what resources are included in different packages, navigate to the package comparison page in the sales area (sorry, can't get a link to work here). Use Control-F to find the title.
Also, the product webpage for each resource usually indicates if it is included in a base package or a collection.

I got it as a stand-alone resource and I love it.

you know, i remember when Dan told us that, but I have come across numerous titles that aren't so categorized (what package, etc they belong to). Maybe it is a work in progress.
As for Beale's CNTUOT . . . . . . All I can say is . . . . WOW!!!! I love it. I really abused it (!) in a Hebrews study. Awesome.
Dan: ditto! I love this resource and I too am working in Hebrews right now. This is one of my favorite resources.

I also purchased it as a stand-alone resource and use it all the time. I place it in a "must-have" category. The night I purchased it Logos came out with a discount on it the next morning. I called them and asked for the discount price but they didn't give it to me. [:(]I did, however, get the Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible as a Christmas special, which I believe is part of the Baker Hermeneutics Collection. [:)]
Ditto ditto... great tool! I'm going through Matthew and use it extensively. I was pleased when they made it available as a stand alone. If there are any Logos ears open, I would love it if Schreiner's "New Testament Theology" would come out on it's own instead of the $$$ expensive package they are trying to launch it with. I think it's still in prepub, but still too expensive for me. I understand the strategy in doing things in bundles, but sometimes the price is too high, especially when one doesn't have an interest in the other books in that Bundle. Some of us buy the print editions also (there is still something special in sitting in your favorite recliner with a "book"), and would love it if certain books were in Logos as a lookup reference, without adding too much cost to do so.

It's a lot cooler too (temperature wise) than having your laptop in your lap while you sit in the recliner! If we are going to go digital full on, we need a good tablet device!
I have to stop going through these forums, I keep finding new things I want. Getting to expensive!!..lol
Looks great as a stand alone.. now added to my wishlist, amoung many others..
Stay away from the prepub page and announcements too as they are a constant source of getting expensive. (as if having 10,000 resources to buy from wasn't enough!)

Totally ignore this reply if your budget is shot [:D], but if you have an extra $25 get the special of the Day!!! I want a refund, this is about $10 less then I paid on the last special. Logos, cut it out, your killing me.
I also paid retail for this from Logos, but I've gotten great use out of it since. It is one of my most-used commentaries. Very, very, very well worth the $25 at todays Christmas sale
Well I finally caved on this one. So far I've resisted the 12 days with only minor pangs. But this one I've wanted for awhile and had to snap it up. Sigh.

To late, I already bought it, along with "The Outline Bible" for 22 bucks...man I have got to stay away from Logos website for a while. In two days I bought BDAG,Holladay and Learning Hebrew/Greek Tools prebub, and now these two things...Stop it Logos Stop it! [:D]...seriously guys these are some very good prices for some helpful study tools
Or you could just capitulate. [:|] As my Logos library has grown I find my interest in other hobbies waning. Dismantling and selling off my home studio will help keep feeding my addiction for a few more months. (Then there is the woodworking stuff, the microfilm/fische collection, the Japanese dictionary collection..... This can go on for YEARS!)
It is still a form of materialism. But Bible study has a built-in return on investment that my other time-consumers don't.

Oh come on...! I have saved the universe as we know it several times over through video games! That's return on investment isn't it? [;)]
Lol, Logos made it easy for me, and put it on 12 days of Christmas. I have already snatched it up.. Now if they would just put chafer's systematic theology up on day 12.. would be a great christmas ( including logos 4, which my wife got me for christmas, this commentary and Chafer's)
Well, after reading the comments on this thread, I purchased Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament and started reading through it - loving it!!!
Due to this discussion, I examined my Library and found it buried among my other resources. Used it to study for tomorrow's SS lesson. You folks are right. I is a valuable resource. [Y]
