Copying vs highlighting

The default has been changed so that now, instead of simply selecting text, it is highlighted. Because what I generally want to do us copy and paste, I find this very frustrating

I now have to highlight the text, then copy and paste, then go back and unhighlight the text.

is there any way that I can change the default to select text rather than highlight?

You can disable "swipe to highlight" - it is a per-resource setting

Swipe to highlight is a global setting, not per resource. You can also double-tap-drag to select text when swipe to highlight is on.
