eSword special I couldn't refuse
I love my Logos 4, but I also use eSword...today I receive an email for CHAFER'S SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY, 8 VOLUMES E-SWORD for 29.99. Logos price is 174.99 which is a lot of difference, so I had to go with the eSword special. I am not pushing eSword but thought some of you may be using it like I am.

Good for you, Charles! I got the same announcement but had to quickly look the other way. It is a great deal and hard to refuse.

Hi brothers/sisters,
Ya'll may want to read some of this post. There is some discussion about the discussion of competitors products there. i had not thought about this until i read the post. So please don't take my reply wrong (i am not trying to judge, just let you think about the point of view of some).

Would be nice, however we are not speaking about the same thing here. We have a saying in Czech that we are not to compare apples with pears. I like e-sword, nothing against it, but it is totally different league as far as using of commentaries is concerned. And not only commentaries. Other resources also. That's IMHO.

Apparently I may have offended others with this original post and I
apologize...I have spent a lot of money with Logos, which is the best Bible
software out there, and love bargains, rather it is Logos, eSword, Nelson, etc. but I
will not share them again in this forum. Also, my apologizes to Logos for
posting here.Chuck

Charles, I don't think anyone was offended by your original post. Rather, we understand that it is bad form on a Logus forum to advertise competitor's products.

If it's possible for Logos to delete this thread, they have my permission to delete it....

I really don't think that Logos could feel threatened by e-sword. Apart from being a Bible study tool in name, it's not even in the same league.
Longtime Logos user (more than $30,000 in purchases) - now a second class user because I won't pay them more every month or year.

apologizeCharles,
No sir, i was not offended. My communications skills are probably lacking. I apologize if it came across wrong. Damian expressed what i was trying to say very well. As i said in the earlier post, i followed the other post and eventually saw that Logos would prefer that we not do this. I celebrate with you on your discovery of a tool that you like!

I found a hard copy for 49.99. Would love to see Logos offer this on one of the 12 days of Christmas special.. even if they only offered it for half price I would bite!

i'm happy for all of you, but with days dwindling, I may have to fight you all for remaining books! [:)]
I don't want Chafers, but I could use HALOT, or Anchor Yale commentaries for 250 (lol, like that'd happen), or maybe a signed, worn, Logos bicycle shirt from Bob P. himself!
I was very glad to get the AYBD on one of the days so far! Most of the rest I have already, but they were good deals!
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.

Well I used e-Sword for years and its nice for what it is, but it is nowhere near the same league as Logos. You can't compare the resource offerings in e-sword with Logos because of all the underlining coding that allows you to dig and bring up those golden nuggets. It's like a '67 VW Bug (sorry not trying to offend anyone who loves those little cars) and a 2009 Ferrari.
Blessings.
In Christ,
Ken

True enough, there is no comparison between ESword and Logos but that is an impressive price for Chafer which is in my opinion the best Systematic Theology ever written. I own the Logos copy which I gladly paid the $174 to have the search options Logos possesses even though I also own the print version which ironically is available for mere $39 at CBD.com http://www.christianbook.com/chafers-systematic-theology-4-volumes/lewis-chafer/9780825423406/pd/2345?item_code=WW&netp_id=159976&event=ESRCN&view=details
I wonder why the publisher charges Logos so much for the rights when the print version has been under $50 on CBD for several years now.... Still worth every penny though at the Logos price.
Logos 5, Windows & Android perfect together....

I am not saying the content of this module is not worth $30. But the usability of the content is much greater in Logos. I currently have to settle for PDF books of Puritan Fathers while I await their publication in Logos. It is better than not having them at all. I view using the lesser interfaces as a stop-gap measure. If the regular price is $35, a discount of $5 is only a 17% savings. Bohuslav recommends we make like comparisons: percentage of savings versus percentage of savings. It is not unusual for Logos to discount a resource more than 17%. The Portfolio Collection`is priced at a substantial discount of the sum total of it's parts. (Greatly discounted for a limited time....)Logos 7 Collectors Edition
