PC to MAC

I've been a Logos PC user for a long time and have decided to donate my old PCs and get an MacBook Air due to the ultra portability for school and work. That and I'd like to try something new. Anyway, does Logos have provisions for those with a version for Windows and have switched to OS X or do I need to repurchase the software specifically for an Apple? If I have to repurchase I'll probably just run my books from Biblia, but will miss the Logos software terribly.

You do not need to purchase the software again. The quickest way is to download the engine sign in (make sure the computer does not go to sleep) and go to bed.

Please do make sure you follow the resource coping off your old machine just in case you have one of the handful of odd resources no longer on Logos servers. Also this way any personal books you have made should make it to your MBA, I am sure you will love your Air they are great computers.

I noticed that this is a Logos 4 forum.

You might consider moving to Logos 5 when you move to Mac. Certainly, many of us Mac users have noticed that Logos 5 is a lot better than Logos 4 on the Mac.

To move to Logos 5 from Logos 4, you must repurchase the program, is that right?

Also, I just started downloading Logos 4 and did not download the L5 engine first...is that a problem?

No, you can simply install the free Logos 5 engine. The program is always free - however, some advanced features (like searching for a person even if they are only referenced by a pronoun) require add-on databases. If you already have Logos 4 installed, the Logos 5 installation will upgrade the installation and re-use the same folder on your hard-drive.

thanks for the quick reply. I also have a question about indexing.

I followed the instructions for downloading Logos 4 on my MacBook, and it looks like the resources are there, but I didn't get any message to index. When I do a search, it says there may be an error because the resources are not finished indexing. Or something like that.

Can you help me with indexing? I couldn't find how to start it or how to know when it is finished.

Yes, you should install the latest version before indexing. However, since indexing starts automatically, it probabbly runs already in the background. No need to worry. You can let it run or install the new version and it will either restart or pick up where it left. Either way, it's possibly the best idea to let the indexer run overnight (make sure your Mac doesn't go into sleep mode - but I don't know how to do this).

My question now is: Do I uninstall Logos 4 from my Macbook? It looks like they are both on my laptop.

If so can you tell me how to uninstall a program on a Mac?

Note: since have upgraded to Logos 5, launching Logos 4 will crash (database version has larger number than Logos 4 can open).

Drag the application to the trash (or right click on application, then "Move to Trash"), which can be followed by empyting the trash.
