Wow, I never even knew Harper Lee was still alive! Glad to see she's agreed having her classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird published electronically. It might be something that would go well in a Noet Classic American fiction collection (or Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction). But for now, it appears Amazon has the exclusive rights for it, on Kindle. It will be released July 8, which is the 54th anniversary of the book's original publication.

According to Wikipedia, "British librarians ranked the book ahead of the Bible as one 'every adult should read before they die'." I wouldn't put it ahead of the Bible, but it sure is an important book, especially as we still grapple almost daily with issues of racial injustice.

I just read her Wikipedia entry... what a woman! If you want to have a chuckle, go read the letter she wrote to a school board that wanted her book banned for being, of all things, "immoral"!

    I laaaaaughed... [:D]

What a brilliant quipstress! Not unlike Flannery O'Conner in that flair with the pen.
