Ronald Sider collection

All classic Sider books. But the real Sider classic (Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger) is a Harper Collins title so it is not included.

One minister I know often calls Sider the primary promoter of "The Guilt Gospel". In his opinion Sider tries to make Christians feel guilty for their seemingly conspicuous consumption when others in the world are starving. I think the minister even once said by Sider's standards my passion for Logos Bible Software would be so classified.

Anyone share that opinion? I haven't read Sider in a few decades and can't recall enough to agree or disagree. Maybe I'll get this collection and form my own opinion.

I naively read Sider years ago while in high school. [8o|] Since then (only by the grace of God) I am no longer a christian socialist.

To bad that my local christian book store did not carry Chiltons book to get the other side of the story.

The only title I'm interested in is The Scandal of the Evangelical Conscience, so I will wait till this gets broken up...but I hope it's soon.

I read Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger in 1999. This was my response to it at the time: "a call to social justice; somewhat idealistic but very convicting and thought-provoking." I would like to see it in Logos eventually, if for no other reason than to dip into it to refamiliarize myself with his arguments. I'd probably still pretty much agree with my assessment from back then, though it might not be so convicting now as it was then since I'm much more involved in supporting social justice now than I was then.

I haven't ever read any of this other books.

Note that all of these are upgrades of prior Vyrso editions, most of which I already own. The only ones that are new to me are Just Politics; Churches That Make a Difference; and Linking Arms, Linking Lives. Since Logos doesn't do dynamic pricing on pre-pubs I'm going to hold off on this until it's split up and maybe just pick up Just Politics. Or maybe not. I've got enough Sider for the foreseeable future.

They've pulled them off of Vyrso now, but here's a snapshot from Google's cache as of April 1:

EDIT: It appears they haven't pulled Just Generosity yet. The new pre-pub says it includes the 2nd edition of this, but the one for sale on Vyrso is already the 2nd edition even though it doesn't say so. I have it.
