In short, this won't work unless your device is rooted - and we don't supported rooted devices. That isn't to say it can't work, just that we don't currently support it.
For more information please see the (many) previous threads that have already been posted about this topic: https://www.google.com/search?q=sdcard+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.logos.com%2Fforums&oq=sdcard+site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.logos.com%2Fforums

From my limited experience some [maybe all] of the tablets that have SD cards mention that you can expand your memory by adding a SD card. Then the only thing you can use the SD card for are Mp3 music files, photos, and sometimes text documents but you can NOT install an App in the 'added' storage. IMHO the 4 Gig tablets with an SD card are useless except as fancy Mp3 players and photo viewers [and perhaps as e-readers]

For most practical purposes a 32 GB tablet will be adequate (but nothing less than 32GB).
I have just over 1300 of my most used books downloaded to my tablet (Nexus 7) and with the application installation together they occupy 7.2GB of the available 26GB of user storage, leaving plenty of headroom for other apps, photos, videos etc (For example a 16GB tablet would only have 10GB of total storage available for user apps and data and on that Logos with 1300 volumes occupying 7.2GB would be a lot more cramped, discouraging a large amount of local storage rather than cloud storage.)
The problem is primarily an Operating System design issue and Google are discouraging the use of additional storage on SD cards to the extent that their own tablets and phones do not even have an SD card slot (just a lot cheaper to get a version of theirs with large built in main storage).
If you have a very large library AND require ALL your books to be downloaded to the tablet because of limited internet access you have fewer options in much more expensive hardware: you either need to look for an Android system with a 64GB or high main storage or go to a full Windows Pro tablet with 256GB or higher storage (WIndows Pro has two additional space hungry issues, a larger operating system footprint AND because you will likely want the full Logos 5 rather than the very limited Windows App, you have to allow a LOT of free space for local indexing.
All becomes a lot easier of course if you intend to keep your library much smaller, but most of use tend to grow our libraries considerably over time.
While we can likely expect tablets with larger main storage to become less expensive over the next few years, we can predict from past experience that user expectations will also demand more complex software similar to the current full Logos 5 version (which in itself more than doubles the storage space needs due to local indexing etc.). We all want a less expensive tablet to be fully capable of doing what a high end laptop or desktop system can do. We may get there soon enough, except that we will not find it easy to carry the multiple 24inch (or larger) screens in our pocket (wonder how we can work around that barrier.... perhaps a future evolution of google glasses will enable us to use multiple virtual screens.... )
