Laptop dedicated to Logos only
Hello folks,
I would like to purchase a Mac laptop dedicated to my Logos software only. I have about 8,500 books in my library. Would the MacBook Air be the best choice? Would RAM be a factor for speed only? Since the recent price drop I don't see a big difference between a i5 1.3 vs 1.4 processor for speed, so the $799 cost for the 11+ inch seems a good value.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

My priorities would be:
1) SSD
2) As much RAM as possible
3) Best graphics card possible
4) CPU model and speed (i7 vs i5, etc.)With the Air, there may not be as many options for those factors.

MBA's are great computers... but they aren't very easily upgradeable. Make sure you buy what you need for the duration of your use of the machine.

You might want to compare the $799 model with the 256GB i7 which will allow you more headroom for your library (128GB is going to feel rather tight in a year or so if you expand your library much). Note these have the older series i7 so the battery life will not be as good as for the current models...

You have received a lot of good advice.
If you buy the 11 inch you might find that the screen size is great for travelling but a little small for desk work. But your machine will drive a substantial monitor without thinking about it.
Stick one of your old desktop monitors on the desk and buy and adaptor to link it to the laptop and you will be driving a big format from a little machine – you will love it.
Also although the newer models to have longer battery life than older models the older models still leave other brands wondering where the mains socket is a good deal earlier.

... which brings up another related point/question in my mind (not to get too far off topic). I see that the price on the Apple Store website has been dropped for all the MB Air's. Is this the signal that a hardware update is coming?
