Explorer bug?

This may or may not be a Beta thing. May or may not be a bug--i just didn't know what to call it.

Ran Explorer for Deut 6:4-9 and in the "People, Places, Things" section it listed several objects. The first being "doorpost". When I clicked on it, the window opened with the message: "no illustrations available". By the description of Explorer in Help, I would expect an image of some sort. If so, the question is why did it not appear. If there is no such image, then why did "doorpost" appear in the report? There were a couple links to dictionary articles in the top left, but no image.

Just curious.

These kinds of errors are almost always indexing issues. Do you have indexing running yet?

If indexing finished, and you still have this problem, you may need to rebuild your index. To do that type rebuild index in the command bar. I know, I know, this can take a long time. If you still have the problem after rebuilding your index, you may have a corrupt resource, or something else going on.

Hi Rich--you know I have not reindexed since the first time, as far as I know. maybe some short indexing, but not the half day thing. I will do that tonight before I go to bed--

Rich, i rebuilt the index last night and just assumed that fixed it.

However, when I ran the same passage in explorer today, I still get the same result: "doorpost" by no image opens up in the window. So, my queries above still stand.

Well, well. You're right. I didn't bother running your scenario before, but when I did I get the same result that you do.

Must be a problem with the resource.

I'm noting this as a bug in my tag below. Hopefully a Logos employee will see it and report it.

Every "thing" in the Bible is in the things database, and linked to articles and illustrations. The Explorer brings back people, places, and things related to your passage. It does not filter the list based on whether or not there is an illustration.

Hey! Didn't mean to bring the Big Guy in on this, but now that you are: you write terrific and accurate Help information. Before I read yours, this is what I read:

1.    Click on Tools | Bible Explorer.
2.    Type a passage or pericope in the Reference box and press Enter, or first choose a pericope and passage from the suggested matches displayed as you type.
3.    Click on a People, Places & Things link to open a Biblical People diagram, a Biblical Places map, or a Biblical Things image.
4.    Click on a Media link to open the items mentioned in step 3 above, or an image from 1000 Bible Images or similar resource, or a map from the Logos Deluxe Map Set.

[and it goes on . . . ]

#3 above makes one assume that you will find a "diagram, map, or image." Perhaps a slight revision to the info along the lines of what you wrote would clear that up. Even #4 seems to suggest you will get "media" of some sort in P, P, T, but you will get more in Media.

Incidentally, "Yahweh" doesn't have a "family tree." (i ran an Explorer on Lk 1:26-38). Maybe the Trinity could be shown, or the "children born of God". Maybe?

Also, in "cartoon" mode, Jesus doesn't have a face, only a gray, faceless, figure. Was that intentional? I found Gabriel doesn't either. Maybe deference to God and Angelic beings, or just an oversight? I would think a 'cartoon' face (as used in Logos) is as "holy" as a gray, faceless figure.
