How many resources do you have?

I'm curious. How many resources do you have in Logos? There was an old thread that asked the same question but it was under the old Libronix format.

I'm wondering what the average number is and what the low and highest numbers are.

I'm wondering if I am in the average range or the high range. Have I spent a normal amount on Logos or maybe too much (If that is possible)?

I have 9,562 as of 12:16pm EST 5-28-14

I'm in the ordinary category. I can't check L5 right now, but Faithlife shows 1,932 and I have 900-1,000 personal books. All way more than I really need, but it keeps me off the streets.

I have 5,100. However with CP, Prepub, Base packages, etc. I'm not sure if that's a good indicator of anything. Many of those are "fluff". I would say only about half of my library is material I actually use. My dollar amount is interesting though, I'm just over $5000 which means my whole library is a buck a book. That makes its value huge IMO; there isnt anyway you could come close to that in dead tree form.

I'm sitting on 2049. (I've hidden all but six of my Perseus resources, so call it 2043 without Perseus.)

Once we have enough longevity with the 'Last Accessed' feature, it will be interesting to see how the total compares to the 'Last Accessed'. I won't be surprised if, after a couple years, I have more than 50% of my library that has never been accessed.

I would gladly trade those thousand or so resources for ten of the ones I really want.

My price per volume is quite high, but that's only because I buy per rabbit trail.

My rabbits are expensive, but their happy trails have shifted over to Amazon due to title availability.

I would presume that you will get a higher than average number from the sample listed here. I sense that active forum users have more resources than your typical Logos users. I also suspect there are a ton of base package users who never expand beyond what they initially buy.

Right now I have 7,332 and no Perseus in my library. I think I actually do need to restart and add more right now.

I am a lay pastor / elder, preach a few times a year, teach Sunday School, Bible Study, etc. My day job is as a quant, and I don't need Logos much for that, but it's incredibly valuable for everything else.

7,142 currently in my library (which includes Perseus). My cost per book is roughly $1.50. I am currently a Doctoral student and full-time preacher in two smaller congregations. Been using Logos since 2006 and have the Platinum package + lots of classic commentaries, etc.

I'm at 9,801. Of course most of these are for reference purposes but I do have a list of over 500 books that I want to read which are arranged by category. Currently I'm reading at a rate of about 1-2 per week and, at that rate, it will take me between 5-10 years to read them all.

Ted's got me beat, I've got 20,658 not counting the 300 hundred or so hidden resources such as old obsolete Greek and Hebrew texts, and all E4's stuff that has finally been replace by Logos editions over the years. I am a lay bible teacher.

I think it was James DG Dunn that I recently read a blog posting from wherein he shared the misfortune of having to downsize his library from something over 7,000 books to just over 3,000 books (retirement and moving caused the downsizing). Has to travel and use libraries extensively while working on volume 3 of Christianity in the Making. Oh the benefits of digital. Imagine having to chose which of 4,000 or so books to part with. Have some anti-depressants handy.

I have a large number of paper books bought over the decades. Used to search the used book stores regularly for books that looked interesting and had a good price. Used books on line also (as well as new ones). Every now and then I look for a book on a certain subject or sometimes a specific title and find it on a shelf unread the last 10 or however many years. Priceless! And then there is Logos. There I have 13,023 resources.

I could be wrong, but I think they're included in the 10K count you have. When I try to do an upgrade the number Logos gave me was a little over 6k and Verbum basics +, but in my library only 5571 show (laptop) and 5534 (iPhone & iPad don't know why the discrepancy on the number of resources between iPad and laptop).

I actually purchased his NIV bible from the sale... It was just a pew bible with no notes... But I still think its cool.

I could be wrong, but I think they're included in the 10K count you have.

No, they aren't. When you hide a resource and restart Logos, your resource count goes down by one.

The only way to count your hidden resources is to page down through the list and count how many full pages worth there are plus how many titles are on the final partial page, then multiply the first number by 8 (or however many lines per page show up in that list on your screen), and add the second number to that.

I wish there were better management for hidden resources; e.g., a way to sort by author, or filter the list to find a book that you might want to unhide if you can't remember what word its title begins with, select multiple items in the list to unhide all at once, etc. Also, I wish the box that displayed that list could be expanded so you could see more than 8 items at a time, and add at least an author column so you can tell which of several books by the same title the one you're looking for is.

I wish you could hide all Perseus resources all at once. I got tired really quick of hiding them 10 by 10. I wish you could tell the program "Hide Perseus Collection" and be done with it. I'd hate to call sales to ask them to lock it for me when I could just have them hidden and in a sense still handy in case something comes up.

You can! They added the ability to hide all selected resources at once a few minor versions ago. Just select them all, Ctrl+right-click, and choose "Hide these resources." It works on more than 10 at a time.

If you ever wanted to bring Perseus back from the dead, you'll have to do it one volume at a time. And there's no way to filter your Hidden Resources to find which entries there are Perseus ones.

I did watch it, but then again, I've had Perseus since it came out and I never really found any use for it. In addition to that, all it did was clutter my library during searches. Yes, I've learned now it's better to have collections and search those, but still, I think for now, I'm better off without Perseus. I'm starting to get more Logos training to be able to use my library to its full potential. It's something I really want to do since I've not been really taking full advantage of all the features. Hopefully, it will change now and hopefully another feature will come in the future that allows us to bring a whole series back to life from the "hidden world" without having to do it one by one [:P] I think it's a feature we all could use. Why not have it when you know you pay big bucks for a software? I think it should be included in some update in the future. They were able to pull it off to hide multiple resources, they should be able to pull it off for "unhiding" resources. All in all, I'm happy either way. At least I can bring back only those I want whenever I need them.

Did you get the bit about opening the library in a floating window or tab instead of a popup menu being much more useful? I never open it in a popup menu anymore, not even to take a quick screenshot to demonstrate something. I did that maybe for the first day or two of using Logos until I discovered there was another way of doing it. Ctrl+L all the time for me (opens in a floating window, which I then immediately maximize; I wish Logos would remember its maximized state).

It looks like the average from those who posted is around 3-5,000 resources.

The next question is "do you feel the resources you have are working well for you or do you feel you have too few or too many?"

Rosie has already made a good point about having a very large library but I'm wondering what each person feels.

I feel I have a good number and my library works well for me but because I'm always researching different things I am always looking to add more to my library.
