Logos has quite a few resources from IVP, so I can't imagine that it would be too difficult to get this series into Logos format. I would like Logos to add the IVP Exploring the Bible Series. I was exploring IVP to see what I could find out about their out of print Illustrated Bible Dictionary set when I ran across the EBS from IVP. Please add, Logos.

This series (or part of it) is already in Logos.

That is odd....I found the books, and they appear to be published by SPCK and not IVP, but the book titles AND the authors are the exact same. The cover art is completely different, too. Not only that, but the year published is different. I wonder if it was just re-released by IVP...

Here is the series. Almost the exact same titles, the exact same authors, but different cover art AND different publishing years. The page numbers appear the same, too.

Good sleuthing, Caleb! The New Testament ones from IVP are marked "2nd Edition" -- not sure why the OT ones aren't, and no idea why the series shifted to a different publisher. I wonder whether IVP and SPCK have some kind of relationship?

So, I just checked SPCK online, and they show the same books, but different cover art in comparison to IVP. That is what threw me off. I had never seen the IVP cover art in Logos, but the SPCK cover art for the books (which are the same) I HAVE seen. I even have the SPCK series in my Wish List. So, this really threw me off. Sorry all about that. My mistake. I'm still not sure how they have the same series with same publishing years (according to Logos and SPCK, but IVP has different publishing years).

    Exploring the Old Testament:

    • V 1: published 2003 according to Logos and SPCK, 2008 according to IVP, same page numbers, expanded IVP title, different IVP cover art.
    • V 2: published 2007 according to Logos and SPCK, 2012 according to IVP, same page numbers, expanded IVP title, different IVP cover art.
    • V 3: published 2003 according to Logos and SPCK, 2008 according to IVP, same page numbers, expanded IVP title, different IVP cover art.
    • V 4: published 2002 according to Logos and SPCK, 2008 according to IVP, same page numbers, expanded IVP title, different IVP cover art.

    Exploring the New Testament:

    • V 1: published 2011 according to Logos and SPCK and IVP, same page numbers, but expanded IVP title, different IVP cover art.
    • V 2: published 2011 according to Logos and SPCK and IVP, same page numbers, but expanded IVP title, different IVP cover art.

So, I think it is obvious that I mistakenly thought they were different series. Again, sorry about that. (Still not sure how it is published by BOTH, since SPCK says Published by: SPCK, and IVP says Line: IVP Academic).

Some kind of relationship, indeed. No idea how or what kind of relationship. Nonetheless, it threw me way off. lol Oh well. Such is life some days.

It may easily be that SPCK sublicenced these to IVP for the North American market - after all, selling of physical books has a lot to do with the book fairs you got to and the relationships to wholesalers, book-store chains etc. (and cover art may appeal differently to the desired customers, too).

An indication for that is that the SPCK volumes sell on Amazon.co.uk, the IVP ones at Amazon.com
