Logos doesn't support our software running on unreleased operating systems like iOS 8 (or OS X 10.10). When new operating systems are officially released by their respective vendors, we support our apps fully on those operating systems.

Well I guess I will have to find a different bible app for the next several months. I'm an independent dev and use my devices for dev and testing so I had to upgrade to iOS8 to test my apps. I was expecting issues with apps and iOS8 but the only ones I've trouble with so far are the Logos apps. It appears to crash as soon as the splash screen try's to load.
Please get this fixed before September

If we can do anything to help you get it up and running, I'm happy to do so. I'm sure you have plenty of internal devs running it, but I'm happy to pitch in to get it up and running.
Fortunately, my iPhone is not my production phone. Use a Note 3 and it runs fine there even rooted.

I am sure it will be fixed before then.... I believe Accordance works under iOS 8 and it has some great freebies in the free version, similar to using the Logos App without being signed in. I do not remember all files/versions included in free accordance but i do know the ESV tied to original languages is one of them.

This was fixed on internal builds yesterday.

Crashes for me, too. Any word yet on whether the internal builds will be released sooner rather than later, or would the fix mess up those running IOS 7 and under?

Remember guys, we found out about iOS 8 at the same time you did, and it takes us just as long to download/install it (longer, in fact, since we have to install the developer tools!) As Kevin said, we don't officially support unreleased operating systems, so if you upgrade before the official release this fall, you do so at your own risk. For those of you that are developers, one workaround is to use iOS 8 in the simulators but wait to install it on your actual device.
In practice, yes, we'll probably have Logos working on iOS well ahead of the official fall release. But hey, a little more than 24 hours of turnaround time would be nice. [:)]

It's amazing that people try to run production software, like doing their Bible study with Logos, on something like iOS Beta 1 on day 1. It;s one thing to try Logos, see how it runs, report it, and move on to using it on your production device. It's another thing entirely to run beta software like this ON your production device, then start asking when Logos can fix it.
That's totally irresponsible IMHO.
Apple specifically says:
"The Pre-Release Software is not intended for use, and should not be used, in production or business-critical systems."
So if this is the computer you run Logos on, and you NEED to run Bible software, shame on you.
Oh yes - Apple also says:
"During your participation in the Seeding Program or in a particular seed, Apple is not obligated to provide you with any maintenance, technical or other support for the Pre-Release Software."
So Apple will fix things in due time as their plans dictate, but we hold Logos to a higher standard? Please.
I wonder how the Logos community at large feels about Logos bring pushed into a fire drill by a small set of users, at the cost of interrupting work on features and fixes we all could use and that more appropriately deserve attention. I for one hope Logos doesn't spend any time on this until it's the right time to work on it, as Apple also says features will continue to be added/updated/removed from here to release. So how many times does this impatient set of users expect Logos to fix a crash on startup at the expense of others, as Apple continues to modify code over the next 4-5 months before release of iOS 8?

Obviously, I can't speak for any other posters on this thread, but my apologies if I added any stress. That wasn't my intent; I was just asking the question. For the record, I do not expect you to have everything up and running in so short of a time. However, I know of some companies that will not release any software compliant with a new OS until the final GM is released to the public. I understand that perspective, too, because anything can change up until the last minute. I was just curious as to which route Logos might take. I was not intending to "push," and I absolutely was not being critical if anything was interpreted that way.

Your judging people as irresponsible is probably not the most constructive use of logos forums. There are people in the world who need to do iOS development that can't afford/justifying the cost of a second iPhone just for development work. Of course this is an extremely unfortunate position to be in, being rich enough to be able to afford two iPhones would be a much better situation to be in.

First, please read more carefully, I didn't judge people, I judged the action. Second, this has nothing to do with being rich, it is an unsound business practice that affects other people when done improperly. This is not my opinion, this is what Apple clearly states and it is NOT the intended practice of the Apple developer program.

Are you looking for beta testers? I would love to volunteer. I am a developer-in-training, and have upgraded both my iPhone and my iPad to iOS 8.
Keep up the wonderful work, for it definitely gives glory to our Lord!
Incidentally, I also upgraded my Macbook to 10.10 Yosemite, and it works like a charm - no problem there!

Logos has already purchased 100 licenses for iOS beta testers but unfortunately our selection process hasn't worked out very well. Less than 10% of our current beta testers give any feedback at all which sort of defeats the purpose of having a beta test program.
Thankfully, Apple has recently changed their policy regarding beta testing for iOS 8 apps, although it won't be implemented until iOS 8 is released. Please see https://developer.apple.com/support/appstore/TestFlight/index.php

I am not so active as a beta tester. Maybe you can transfer my license to him.

Paulo, many thanks for the nice offer!
Kevin, I do hope that you can squeeze me in, for I would really like to help you with your work by providing expert feedback on your pre-release updates. I am just curious, do you utilize a tool like Pivotal Tracker to monitor product updates?

I'm happy to say that I feel that I am consistently annoying with my regular feedback. [;)]

Hi Michael,
When I upgraded to 10.10 Logos was missing words in almost every open resource. Here's the NASB.
Would you check to see if this is happening on your system and report back?
I'm running Logos 5.2b Beta 2, but it happened under the most recent Logos release as well.
Curiously, it doesn't happen using the Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament, so I'm going to use it for a few days before deciding whether to go back to 10.9.
Thanks,
Greg

Kevin, unfortunately the forum requires that we go to the forum itself rather than just clicking reply on the message. often I have hit reply and thought that i sent something only to find out the next time that I open my mail that I did not send anything.... and now it is old news or has been updated ect. ect. I have asked several times that we could simply hit reply like yahoo groups does it and make it very easy to reply, but alas it has fallen on deaf ears. the other thing is that it is usually after 11pm local time when I get to look at my mail, and as I read things, the issue has already been addressed... so it is not that we dont want to help, but what good does it do to always say "me too." just a couple of thoughts.

Hi Gregory,
This is the Mobile forum - could you please repost this to the Logos Desktop forum? The mobile dev's don't work on the Desktop platform.

Likewise here; the 4.3.0 update works like a charm under iOS 8 on both my iPhone 5S and the iPad Air. Praise the Lord, this update got us back in business!
