Differing search results

When I search for the Greek word εὐαγγέλιον (Gospel) with the search range Romans (NKJV) using the Bible Word Study, it returns 10 results: Rom 1:1,9,16; 2:16; 10:16; 11:28; 15:16, 19, 29; 16:25. However, when I do a Bible search for the same Greek word (using NKJV or Top Bibles) it returns only 7 results: Rom 1:1,16; 2:16; 11:28; 15:16,19; 16:25. The search parameters are "Search All Bible Text in Romans in Top Bibles for εὐαγγέλιον."  So why the difference? What am I missing here?  Can this be validated by others?

Thanks and God bless

I'm using Logos Bible Software 5.2a SR-5 (5.2.1.0149).

    So why the difference?

The BWS search is searching against the lemma (the base form) of the word while the Bible search is searching against the actual form of the word present in the text.

If you look at the screenshot below - showing the first part of Romans 1 you will see the results for the lemma search highlighted in verse 1 and verse 9. Note that the actual form of the word used in verse 1 is the same as the lemma while it is different in verse 9

If you construct your Bible search to do a lemma search (right-click on the word, choose lemma and then "search this resource") you will see all 10 hits reported.

That's totally awesome!  It amazes me that there is always more to learn with Logos, but the payoff is huge.

Thanks for the quick reply, Graham. I appreciate it.
