Logos Ipad App Question
Logos Ipad App Questions
Working with my library on IPad Help
I have some questions on using the library properly on an IPAD.
FYI, I have logos 4 for mac which I purchased with quite an extensive library.
Question One: When using my IPAD I can only see 4 books in my library. One NKJV, is downloaded that I use most often, three others that I don't know how they got there. I don't care to download the other three but I do want to download other books that I regularly use on my laptop. I cannot figure out how to get more books visible in my library. BTW, I do have five other bibles on my IPAD that I can access with the screen split, but don't see them in my library. Why is this?
Thanks for any help on this.

Sorry for the lag time in replying busy day yesterday.
Yes! That was the issue. Thanks Graham.
I have another question. When I am reading in a bible, and have a split screen so I can compare versions, it shows me my top bibles, but I have yet to figure out how to add or remove a top bible from that list. Thanks.

Hi Art
Yes! That was the issue.
Good to get that one sorted[:)]
it shows me my top bibles, but I have yet to figure out how to add or remove a top bible from that list.
"Top Bibles" is defined within Logos as your five highest prioritised Bibles.
You change the priority in the Logos desktop application (I note you have Logos 4 Mac) - details of doing this are at http://wiki.logos.com/Prioritizing
So if you choose the five highest Bibles in Logos 4 Mac this should synchronise down to your iPad app and appear in the Text Comparison panel
Please let us know if this doesn't give you what you need.
Incidentally, there is no charge to upgrade to the Logos 5 core engine which adds some new functionality and introduces some more features. It is available at https://www.logos.com/install and - assuming you have the requisite HW and SW I would recommend you go ahead and update to Logos 5.

I downloaded the Logos 5 engine on my Mac Pro successfully but will have to get use to the new interface. I also downloaded (I think) for the ipad but Logos on my ipad shows ver. 4.30 I don't see any indication that I am running Logos 5 if I am suppose to.
But getting back to the Top Bible issue, If I understand correctly, my choice for Top Bibles is limited to 5, If I choose the five I want on my laptop, the ipad should reflect those five also correct?
I followed the link you gave or prioritizing but I am not getting it. Is there not a Top
Bible menu function that simply allows me to pick them and save them? Maybe that's where your trying to lead me but as mentioned, haven't figured that out yet. I am also going to look to see what I can find on video online to see if I can find a demo for this for the laptop. Videos for the IPad are very limited. Still want to hear from you.One other thing on a different note, I tried changing my email several times for your responses but it doesn't seem to want to take this change. Is this something I should call Logos about? Thanks Graham.

Ok, Thanks Alabama, I mis-read Graham's reply and thought I was suppose to download logos 5 app on my ipad.
I have now figured out how to remove and add bibles for my Top 5 Bibles on my mac with the Logos 5 interface. But... after making those changes on my laptop, I am not getting that new information updated and displayed on my ipad. I have shut all software down and restarted Logos on my mac and ipad. When I choose text comparison on a verse on my ipad, it does not bring up my new top 5 bibles as choices.
Anyone can jump in. Thanks. I'll keep searching for info for the ipad Logos App.

Resource prioritization in Text Comparison doesn't work - this is a known issue and there's an existing case for it.

Thanks Kevin. So how does one change their top bibles in the Logos Ipad App?

The app allows you to set a single "preferred" Bible but not a selection of "top" Bibles - it's in the Settings panel.

So..... I need to know if I understand this right. I have five bibles showing when I am using my Logos App for the Ipad, even though I removed All bibles from the prioritize list on my Mac Laptop (which is supposed to sink with me IPad), and there is currently no way to remove those bibles or change them on my IPad?
Someone tell me this is not so. Is there anyone else who is experiencing this?

Ok, for whosoever is interested, after many hours today, I found a work around the Top Bible syncing problem posted on this forum by Bill Stevener.
"What I did some time ago was to cycle through the five bibles I wanted to appear in the Text Comparison, making each one my Favorite Bible. For me, the Text Comparison uses those last five favorite Bibles. I made sure my "favorite" was the last one selected. Might still work."
This does work on with the Logos App. I hope Logos will fix this soon. I will be calling into Logos to ask them if and when they will get this fixed.

The issue here is that when you add Bibles you don't own to the priority list, there's no way to remove them unless you purchase those resources (since resources you don't own don't show up in the desktop list). Cycling through the Bibles "fixes" the problem by loading the top of the list with the Bibles you want, but I agree, it's not the best option. We learned about this situation recently and we're discussing ways to fix it, but I can't give an estimate on when that will happen. It's not an easy problem to fix, unfortunately.

Hi Drew,
I think you implied that the bibles that are visible on my desktop/laptop are "owned" by me. If that is right, then they should be available on my IPad as well when using the Logos app, but if not owned, they cannot be manipulated. But.... why would I even have access to books that I did not purchase on my desktop or IPad?
Maybe I'm not tracking what your writing too well. You may not be able to explain it to me anyway, which is fine. I really don't need to know why they don't sync properly. I think the point is everyone would like the app to work like the Logos desktop, and it would be really nice to get that going soon. It seems to me with all the syncing programming knowledge and programs out there being used today, this problem could be fixed sooner than latter but I'm not a programmer so it's easy for me to think it should be an easy fix.
Thanks for the reply.

As an addition to Alabama's previous reply (which is exactly correct), Logos doesn't give dates for when issues will be fixed, and I think you would be hard pressed to find *any* software company that does so.

The Logos iPad app includes 34 free Bibles that you can access while online, even though you technically don't *own* them and cannot download them to your iPad. So, if you are a brand new Logos customer that wants to try out the free Logos app on an iOS or Android mobile device without buying anything, we offer about 70 free resources - but none of them are considered to be "owned" resources.

Hi Arthur
Just checking I understand this (and I note that you have come up with a workround)
I removed All bibles from the prioritize list on my Mac Laptop
Are you saying that you don't currently have any prioritised Bibles on your Mac?
If so, please add your preferred five back in again - in order, give Logos 5 on the Mac and the iPad app time to sync and try the text comparison again and let us know what happened.
Incidentally:
"What I did some time ago was to cycle through the five bibles I wanted to appear in the Text Comparison, making each one my Favorite Bible. For me, the Text Comparison uses those last five favorite Bibles. I made sure my "favorite" was the last one selected. Might still work."
This will probably have changed the prioritisation in your Logos Mac environment as synching should work both ways[:)]

Hi Graham,
Yes, I have five bibles prioritized on my Mac, I took them (and put them back in) restarted Logos to see if that would change anything with the Logos app on my Ipad. Just an experiment to see if that would change/fix a syncing problem. It did not.
So I think you are saying that the syncing should work and is not a current flaw with the app?
I have shut down and reopen Logos on my mac and Ipad many times now over the course of a few hours, I would have thought something would of synced after all that.
Thanks again Graham.

HI Art

As pointed out by the Logos guys earlier in this thread there is a "priority sync" problem in the iPad app but it doesn't appear in all conditions and I'm trying to ensure we know exactly what is going on in your case.

As would I!
Are you able to post a couple of screenshots (http://wiki.logos.com/Screenshot)?
One showing the proiritisation on your Mac and the other showing the results of a text comparison in the iPad app.
Thanks, Graham

Ok, here you go Graham. These are hot off the press.

Hmmm, I pasted the pics but obviously when I posted, the post stripped them off. I copied one at a time into the post and also pasted them into Word, and then used the paste word icon on the forum post menu. How else do you suggest I get them inserted in a post?

Ahh, I didn't see that until you mentioned it. Had to enlarge the screen to tell it was an icon of a paper clip. So, what do you suggest is the best file format to insert here?
