Hey all,
When I pull up BDB it's blank (see below). I've installed all the updates and have restarted Logos/my computer several times. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for your help!
Hi Andrew,
I'm sorry for the trouble. Can you verify the version of the BDB you're using? CLick the "i" icon with the circle around it in the top right-had side of the book panel, scroll to the bottom and paste the information here under "Support Info."
Hi Tommy, thanks for the inquiry and see below:

Can you hide the resource, and then unhide it to see if re-downloading the file makes a difference? If it doesn't I think further troubleshooting with someone in our support department will get this book working more quickly than trying to figure it out here. Here is a link for hiding resources: https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/hide-resources.
What is your setting for "Default Resource Font" in Program Settings? Does changing it fix the display of text in BDB?
Thanks to you too Bradley! I changed the font (even to Comic Sans!) with no improvement.
The problem could be the WPF font cache; please follow the instructions in this support article: https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/windows/font-cache
Bradley,
Thanks for the link
but I don't think the instructions are specific to my machine and need a bit more guidance.
I feel pretty good about Step 1, although I don't have "Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0." Is "Windows Font Cache Service" comparable?
Also, for Step 2, I don't have a "FontCache3.0.0.0.dat." I have included a picture which shows the .dat files which are present in C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local, which one needs deleting? I'm naturally a bit hesitant to start deleting .dat files unnecessarily.
Thanks again for all your help!
No, these are two different services. I don't know why the "Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0" service is not present on your machine.
I don't have a "FontCache3.0.0.0.dat."
This is probably because the WPF Font Cache Service isn't present (and hasn't created that file). I would not delete the other files in this folder.
I don't know what it means for this service to be missing. My understanding is that it acts as an optimisation for WPF font rendering, and that your system may run more slowly without it, but should still have correct behaviour. However, it's not heavily documented, so it could still be possible that WPF (and therefore Logos) don't render correctly if the service isn't present.
I haven't found instructions for how to recreate the service, so I'm not sure how to proceed at this point. It's possible that repairing the .NET Framework 4.5 may fix the issue.

I'm really grateful for all your effort!
I hate to be a bother, but what "next steps" can I take to access BDB? Is there a help line with Logos that I should call or is this forum the help line? Not being able to use this lexicon has been quite a challenge lately and I greatly appreciate all your help!
What version of Windows are you running? If you're running Windows 7 re-installing .NET might resolve the problem you're having with WPF. Here is an article on that: https://www.logos.com/support/logos5/windows/dotNET
Any suggestions?
Does changing Resource Panel Background help ? => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/86308/606523.aspx#606523
Keep Smiling [:)]
Sadly, both suggestions have not solved the problem. (Updating microsoft.net or changing the background) Any other ideas I might try or is there a help line I can call?
thanks all for your help!
I changed the font (even to Comic Sans!) with no improvement.
Apologies: using 5.2b Beta 4, Comic Sans works in BDB:

That should be a capital offense. [;)]

Turn off the Visual Filters (in the tri-colour icon).

That should be a capital offense.
Even using comic sans lower case is an offense. But at least it isn't a capital offense. [:)]
I had the same problem - my BDB was blank. Deleting then reinstalling .NET worked for me - BDB now works again. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip Shane! Sadly I've lately run into this problem with one or two other resources as well. I think I will end up restoring my computer to factory settings but I'll give the .NET reboot another try just for good luck.
