Important announcement for OS X 10.8 users

A fair decision. Upgrading 10.8 to 10.9/10 is a no-brainer compared to what Windows users have to go through.

I'm curious about Swift to. Wondering what benefits Logos would have to use it. I'm hoping to review the developer docs to better understand it.

We don't have 10.10 and won't have it until maybe the fall, are you saying you want to wait until then?  Let's get the 10.9 so we will be able to move on with the 5.3 updates.

Perhaps better stated as "If you are an OS X user and you can't wait for Logos to make more use of the new technologies of OS X to have Logos 5 run better then put up your hand".

Either way, I WILL be upgrading to Yosemite. And when I eventually upgrade my Mac (when I have money for it of course) I will be on the latest OS X at that point in any case. So, a non-issue for me either way.

Amen to what Bama said. I waited just a little while to upgrade to Mavericks until folks I trust on this forum and elsewhere said the water is fine, jump in. I'm guessing a month or so after Yosemite's release, whatever bugs will be worked out and I'll upgrade. Lord willing, would love for a new Macbook Pro to be a part of the upgrade! [:)]

Generally speaking I'd be tempted to go with the crowd suggesting 10.10 but the problem is that Apple have been removing functionality at least as quick as they add, it so far as I can tell.

I am still gutted that iwork has lost most of its accessibility features since 4.0...

In short, I would want to know what I lose in the update before I commit to the update. Sometimes it has proved worth while to wait 6 months before making the jump.

Alright, here is my tuppence worth:

OSX 10.9 is an enhancement of 10.8 which was a great improvement on 10.7. OSX 10.7 was not as good, IMHO, as 10.6, but 10.8 and 10.9 have more than recovered the position.

Nevertheless, the current iWork is not fit for purpose, particularly Pages 5 which is a pale shadow of 4.3. In fact, many people, myself included, uninstalled Pages 5 and re-instated 4.3 as our working version. As far as I'm concerned Pages 5 is hardly a serious contender until it has recovered more ground. I need the functionality of a serious word-processor which Pages 4.3 still is.

Personally, having previewed the features in 10.10, I'm confident that it will do the business and with a name like Yosemite it promises to be a towering success! [;)]

I think that it would be sensible for Logos to use it as its OSX base for the near future, particularly as any Apple which can run 10.8 will be able to run 10.10, as far as I can see.
