Ok, I am just curious (I imagine some of you are too).
Why is Mr. Greg Laurie featured so prominently in a banner at the bottom of nearly all of my Logos pages lately?
Imagine how many (discounted) sales could be generated if this book went there instead:

(wink)
I wonder how much Greg Laurie paid in advertising fees to be featured at the bottom of every page?
I wonder if they are paying to display the advert on the pages displayed to those of us who live outside the US.

You might consider it foreign missions. The US is in desperate need of the Gospel.
I'm not sure 'Greg' is such a bad idea. From his site:
'In 1990, Greg Laurie began holding large-scale public evangelistic events called Harvest Crusades. Since that time, more than 5,006,808 people have attended Harvest Crusades events around the United States and internationally. More than 421,834 people have registered professions of faith through these outreaches.'
Let's do the math. Logos in 2012 had 'over 1 million accounts'. But that's accounts; Bob said most buy just once.
Now, let's say you got just 1/100 of the Greg market (attenders)? That'd be 50,000 customers. Five times our little town. And he's aggressive too. Big plus.
Bob said most buy just once
More interesting would be the statistic of how many who have purchased use it at least once a month.
They seem to run the same ad for days at a time. For a month or so it was the one with an image of a random child whose birthday it was that day. (Could we be certain it really was that particular child's birthday that day, or were they just using random pictures of poor African children to tweak our heartstrings?)
I can't even remember what organization it was an ad for (World Vision?), so that shows you how effective an ad campaign it was.
It was Compassion and I think they featured at least half a dozen different kids.
Why would he get paid? Based on the ad it seems he's promoting one of his own events (my guess); therefore, he should be paying Logos or the web to get his ads rolling.
Another thing, it seems like ads are random and google chrome (in my case) saves cookies or catches or whatever and then runs automatic ads on those things you've searched for. I was doing a search on the Interpreter's Bible Dictionary and also the Jewish Study Bible and now they appear in the ads column from time to time using the previous searches I've made. I was on an MMA site and on the right an ad banner was there advertising Logos and then changed to some of the other things I had searched for in the Christian Book dot come website. So go figure. Believe you misread Floyd's post. He wondered how much Greg had to pay for his ad to appear.
When the radio in my truck worked, and I was on the road at the right time, I would listen to Greg. He is an excellent Bible expositor.

Well, I stand corrected! I apologize to Floyd, I DID misread him. Anyway, I think ads online are way cheaper than radio spots or TV time that's for sure, so how much he paid? Not much I would say. My Wordpress Blog and its subcategories can be found on google and it's free. It comes out on the first hits, so I get the first page of google search full of my blog posts, etc. So internet ads are cheaper if you have to pay for them, but free is better. [;)]
Hi everyone....thanks for NOT slamming Mr. Laurie. I agree with the ad banner text - as I am sure you all do - that American needs to be reached with The Gospel. I know RI does!
This is why everyone loves you, ST...
