4.0a RC2 unstable while populating initial layout

Just upgraded to the new beta from the official 4.0 release. It crashed three times within a few minutes for me.[:(]

Since no one else seems to be having these type of stability issues, I think I may be on to a theory. Each time the app crashed, it was in the process of rendering the initial layout. I've seen three crashes so far during the initial layout rendering:

Control-H to show history (I was curious about this new feature which is cool BTW).
Alt-H to show the home page
Killing a search window.

I'm running XP SP3 for 2.5 GB of RAM and have the Scholars Library. Is this a general issue with doing too much during application boot or is this a unique issue with my config?

Edit: forgot to mention that these actions seem stable if I'm patient and let the layout rendering complete.

Can you include a Logos4.log file showing the crash? You'll find information on diagnostic logging here: http://www.logos.com/support/article/2135.

Sadly, I can no longer replicate the problem (with or without logging). I'm wondering if whatever caused the problem went away after I was able to have a complete startup? If its any help, I upgraded from the Bible Study Library to the Scholar's Library last night (indexing completed with the official 4.0 release), but I really haven't used Logos much after that indexing completed other than play around with pronunciation.

I have found that Logos 4 takes a bit of time to settle in when it is first opened. I leave it for a few minutes after opening a layout. Perhaps you were trying to work in it while it was still, for a better word, settling in.

During the 4.0 Beta releases, I have had the same thing happen. What I have done is to let it "sit and think" for awhile while the homepage populates. If I leave the program alone the first time, after that it does not do it again. There must be some updating going on in the background.

It is a minor annoyance, but it only happens once, IF I leave it alone.

Your symptoms match mine (i.e. once I let it complete its initial rendering etc, I can't replicate the crash) except that I had the home page off by default. Does Logos 4 load the home page in the background even if it doesn't display it?

Not perhaps, but most definitely. I could still see things being painted when I tried to test out the new features. Strange thing is I've never seen this issue with the official 4.0 release and I'm equally as impatient with it.

Forgot to add that I've got approximately 20 resources in my current layout, a passage guide and numerous searches (most of which have all the options closed).

If the home page is turned off, Logos 4 won't load it in the background; it will only be loaded once you click the Home button.

Well I think that rules out the home page as the source of the problem because it was only involved in 1 of my 3 scenarios.

Linden,

The RC2 causes a complete sync of all your data. This can take around 20 minutes depending on how much you have saved. This is probably the cause of your slowdown.

Haven't noticed a slow down. Just to clarify, I just didn't wait until everything finished painting before testing out new features after I upgraded to the beta. Once I started the app and waited I'm guessing 90-120 seconds after the appearance of the initial layout panels, all has been well.
