Still font problems in 4.0a RC1 running XP
When this is an release candidate I again mention there is still graphic mismatch in Logos 4 running XP.
Will this be solved or is XP to old to be interesting when developing Logos 4?

Same issue exists here. I would like to upgrade to W7, but don't have the cash right now!

Yes, I would rather be able to use a San-serif font for resources in L4 (like I could in L3) rather than the default serif, but changing it to anything otherthan the built in default serif then makes my Hebrew tranliterations look like little boxes (in XP).

My fonts are still on the defaults set at the time of installation. Looking at them, they look identical to yours except for Default Text Size. Changing this had no effect.

The default font at the top of your image, i am using Times Roman, L4 may be using the regular font for these arrow images. You might try changing that just for a test. Thought that i saw somewhere where they were reverting back to a default font for users who liked the unhinted version. Perhaps if they did this that font is a version which does not have all the unicode characters. Just a thought.

It was a good idea and I tried it... but sadly it didn't work!

This is a known font-problem since early beta testing. It has nothing to do with your settings in Logos4. It's how Logos 4 working (or not working) in XP. Hopefully this will be solved.

No probs and it's not a deal breaker. I am a bit surprised though to make it to RC and this is still not fixed. Hopefully it will be sorted before we go gold.

I've probably asked this before, but do you have both of the "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)" and "Install files for East Asian languages" checkboxes checked in Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, Languages tab?

There is a very long history behind it, but I cannot enable the additional languages on my machine which has made some Sanskrit texts unuseable. If this is what is required to get the fonts to work, I'll put up with a bit of font-flakiness for now.

I'm not a beta-tester but the issue of the fonts in L4 is on W7 as well (Parallel MT/LXX). I spent almost an hour with a level-2 service guy running my pc without successfully fixing it. Little did I know that moving away from the 'default' was the source of the problem. Would be good to let the support people know, for an easy fix to any with the existing L4 (and I guess the update as well).

My question was just for diagnostic purposes, but it now sounds like it's becoming a requirement. Since those checkboxes control Windows components (which I don't think we're able to affect in our installer), I think we'd just have to put it in the documentation.

I'm running XP.
But, IF I try to move off "default" it STILL messes up my Hebrew transliterations.
So there is still something else going on.

I'm not sure what you mean by "move off default"; are you referring to the display of the Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear resource when you've changed the "Default Font" program setting from "Default" to some font of your choice? (E.g., as pictured at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/4545/35477.aspx#35477)
If so, we can look into it, but it's probably a fundamental limitation in the Unicode character repertoire of the font you've selected.

I tried to explain this a couple of times in beta but have not been able to clearly describe it , I guess.
(I even went through every sans serif font starting with "A' on my system and none would work, so I quit trying)
"All" I would like to be able to do in L4 is to have "any" Sans serif font as the "regular" display font for resources (as I can without any problems in Libronix 3) -- L3 uses a sans serif and the Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear resource displays perfectly its tranliteration.
But trying that in L4 and you are back to the "little boxes"

Can you try Arial Unicode as your font? If that doesn't work there is some kind of bug/limitation in XP, as that has more characters than any other font.
But very fonts will have Hebrew transliteration characters available, so I'm not surprised that most don't work in this context.
