After downloading, NIB has been "installing" for an hour or more ...
The downloading locked up the first time and the iPad did a watchdog timer automatic cold reboot . At Apple logo for many minutes. Yuck! Has 3 GB free so lots of space. After restart, the download ran again and now NIB has been "installing" for over an hour. And eating the battery of course.
Help - how can I get this to complete or clear or something useful please? I'd rather not delete and reinstall Logos app, but I will if needs be.
What might have added to the mess, I had ticked NIB under devices on my PC last night so the resource would download to my iPhone and iPad. I almost never use that so maybe it somehow added extra madness. Maybe the iPad was unsure to download or not. I also lost comms in a train tunnel when I think it was downloading over 3G this morning on my way to work. Bad idea!

The NIB is over 200 MB so depending on factors (your connection speed, Logos servers load, etc.) it could take a while to install it. But I do not think it should ever take that long.

Thanks for the various feedback. My issue is not the time to DOWNLOAD the resource, but once on my ipad, the Logos software was in the "installing" phase for an hour or two, eating my battery charge.
I consider this a bug in the "installer" module that should have either correctly loaded the new download, or given up reporting that there was an error or timeout or something!
I did the only thing possible and nuked the app. On reinstalling and then killing the auto-downloads then in progress, I was able to download NIB over 3G in under 5 mins, and then maybe 1-2 minutes while it "installed". I expected in the end it wasted maybe 1 GB of my 3 GB 3G quota for this month.
So, a bug I believe, and given the ipad did a crash reboot, rather a nasty fault.
Maybe someone in Logos will notice this report and drop something into their assorted bug lists, but either way, for me nuking the app and reinstalling appeared to be the only solution. Not one I'm so happy with given the need to redownload various resources again. What a drag!

I dont understand what you mean by "installing." Thinking through various possible meanings:
- You can "install the app" (download from the app store).
- You can "install the resource" (download the resource).
- You can "install the note documents" (download the note files).
I am unsure what you mean by "install" since it doesn't fall under #1-3. Can you explain more clearly and/or post screen shots?

Alabama,
Option 2 if anything ...
On the iOS version of the app, you can select a resource to download. Once begun, is status changes to "Downloading". Once downloaded, its status changes to "Installing". Once installed, its status changes to downloaded and the button then offers "Remove".
Well its as I wrote: the NIB resource downloaded then stayed in "Installing" phase for about 2 hours. A full poweroff reboot changed nothing. Nuking the app and reinstalling cleared it of course, as the local storage was nuked too. A clear bug in my view as uninstalling an app is not a minor undertaking and has massive impact including on data usage.
Some apps have a local cache clear or reset mode, often set as a flag under the iOS Setting tab for apps. Logos only has a single setting to "Start at Homepage". Some kind of "Clear cache" or something here might be useful, but even better would be if the app knew to terminate the load attempt as clearly the download was corrupt or something.
My hope is that Logos will accept a formal bug report here please. Please forward or email if you have their ear.

Thanks for the explanation. What are you doing during this time? Are you sitting staring at the library screen, or are you using the app? What happens if, once the resource is downloaded, you use the app like normal and then just close the app? Does the download not "take"? I have never seen a resource say "installing" more than a few seconds... but this is a much larger resource than I am use to using. I assume you haven't had issues with other resources... right?

Jim,
The only bug report I can enter at this point won't have any debug information; I can't reproduce the issue and since you've reinstalled the app any former crash log can't be sent through the app itself.
Do you sync your iOS device to a desktop computer through iTunes? If so the crash logs on your device can be sync'd to your desktop and then sent to us for examination.
