How to disable location services in Logos
Does anyone know how to keep the Logos app from asking for my location every time I open it? I've already disabled the presentations feature, which did the trick on previous releases. Since 4.3.6 rolled out though, it has kept turning on my GPS every time I open the app. I'm having the issue on both my Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4

Nothing related to GPS/location has changed in 4.3.6, as far as I know (just did a quick glance which parts of the code accesses the location data and it still appears to be only presentation-related areas). I'm not seeing the GPS enabled on my device (Nexus 4, stock 4.4.4) when using 4.3.6 either. Could you send us your support logs using the "Send Support Info" button on the "Help" screen? Add "Attention: Drew" to the message somewhere and it will get directed to me.
I'll be sure to take a look...we definitely don't want the app accessing location and/or draining battery needlessly!

Thanks for the quick reply, that's some awesome support!
Both logs should be headed your way. On second glance the nexus 5 turns on GPS, the nexus 7 only asks for location via WiFi. Both start/stop as I open/close the app, or even jumping in or out via multitasking.

Sorry for the trouble, but can you send your logs again and change the email address to drew DOT hannay AT logos DOT com? I'm having trouble accessing the shared support email inbox right now.

Should have the logs at the requested address now.

I looked at your logs, and as far as I can tell, our code is not accessing your GPS/location. I see a log message stating that we tried to start listening for location, then noticed you had disabled following presentations, so we did not enable the GPS. I also asked a coworker with a Nexus 5 to try and reproduce the problem and he's not seeing the issue either. So...I'm not sure what to tell you. My only suggestion would be to try restarting your device (grasping at straws here [:)])

Actually, i think we were just able to reproduce the issue...more details soon.

I'm having the same issue. Restarting the phone didn't help.0

Great, thanks for looking into it!

I found the culprit...a third party library we added in this release was accessing location data when the app starts (which we were unaware of). Just checked in a fix to disable that excessive location access and we should be able to get an app update out soon. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for helping us track this down!

Fantastic! Nothing like getting a pesky bug squashed to bring a smile to your face. Thanks for the quick support.
