Issues - by a former Accordance user
I have had a few issues with the transition. Spent a lot of money on Accordance, but prefer the interface of Logos but...
- Logos uses "side scrolling" instead of vertical. That's ok but it makes it difficult to have the same verse at the top of the window in parallel mode (which I live by)
- I have not yet figured out how to copy the verse with references - in Accordance, I select and hold on the verse number for a sec and my options are clear, [Copy verse, highlight verse, bookmark verse...] I select copy for John 11:35 and I can paste "John 11:35 Jesus wept." Do the same in Logos and I paste "35"
- In the search window the results look like "Chapter 11 KJV 1900", What book!?!
- There is a free KJV version and a paid KJV version (in the FEATURED BIBLES section). No clear delineation between the two. Guessing the plus is audio.
- Like the HOME screen, but how do I turn off NEWS
- There is a search window at the top of the HOME screen. What's that for?
- Typing in this site is REALLY painful on the iPad (may not be your fault)
- The YouTube videos are ok but the phone is REALLY small
I'm gonna have to buy spend money on Logos like I did on Accordance, at least $200, but I'm guessing I may be just an ignorant newbie. So.. I'm asking.

HI Noel - and welcome to the forums

You can use two-finger scrolling to move vertically in the text
I select copy for John 11:35 and I can paste "John 11:35 Jesus wept." Do the same in Logos and I paste "35"
If you highlight the text and select copy you will be able to copy the text. Unfortunately, the app doesn't copy the reference at the moment.
In the search window the results look like "Chapter 11 KJV 1900", What book!?!
I think you are doing a "Basic Search" as opposed to a "Bible Search". Tap the toggle button at the top-right of the search panel to change this
There is a free KJV version and a paid KJV version (in the FEATURED BIBLES section). No clear delineation between the two. Guessing the plus is audio.
I doubt if it is audio - I can't see what you are seeing as I have purchased the KJV. Typically the difference is that the free versions are only available when online and can't be downloaded to your device whereas the paid versions can. (There are some other differences but that's probably the case here)
Like the HOME screen, but how do I turn off NEWS
News is the one section of the home screen which can't currently be turned off - but Logos were going to look at whether they should change this
There is a search window at the top of the HOME screen. What's that for?
That allows you to enter a Bible reference and for the app to open your preferred Bible to that place
Typing in this site is REALLY painful on the iPad (may not be your fault)
Agreed - engaging on the forums from an iPad is not easy - Logos are aware of this and there have been requests to address this. Not sure when anything will happen
Hope this helps
And please feel free to come back with any more questions about the use of Logos software

Thanks!!![:O]
Excellent answers but although two finger scrolling works and allows vertical scrolling. The two sections in the parallel mode, still aren't syncing together. I currently use KJV at the bottom as my reference with Lexham at the top.
Re KJV I have downloaded it and am using it offline (for free) but there is a paid version for $9.99 listed in FEATURED BIBLES.
Regardless, I am grateful. I think I'll juts give the MacOSX versions a spin now before I buy.
Thanks again!!

Try to get verse 2 at the top of both panels.
If it works. Tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks again!0 -
Yes I do. You try it. Try to get verse 2 at the top of both panels. If it works. Tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks again!
I see what you mean!
Logos do acknowledge this capability doesn't provide true smooth vertical scrolling.
Probably what we are seeing is one of the implications of that.

I think what you are seeing with the two different KJV Bibles is:
One has a red cover and is called the "Authorized Version." This is the free one.
The paid one has a blue cover and is called "King James Version." This one has a reverse interlinear, for use in the desktop version of Logos.

Ok, one final question...
But before that, my needs are simple - I need a few translations - LEB, NASB, NIV, KJV, maybe Korean Bible KRV, French translation, a Spanish translation, a bible dictionary like Easton's or the NIV Dictionary, maps are ok (but not a must have). Don't need theological books, sermon helps, not too much deep Greek/Hebrew translators, no devotional or study aids, no ministry books, no sermon helps... I understand the bible just fine with the Holy Spirit, but it seems to get what I need it would make sense to just get the starter kit and ignore what I don't. Would that be correct?
Also will the DEFINITION now work under BIBLE WORD STUDYif I have the starter kit?

I love logos and i love accordance. I cannot imagine doing without both of them.
I find I can do everything on logos PC app, and everything on accordance iPad app, but the other way around...not so satisfied yet
