Just downloaded the 4.0a update. Very much dislike the new default font - too defined and sore on the eyes. Please allow us to use the font we have been using, which renders beautifully and easy to read.
I guess I don't have much preference. Don't know what fonts have/are being used, but you have control over them. Program Settings will let you choose whatever font you want as your default font.
I appreciate that we can change the default font, but the problem is that Logos has altogether removed the font which used to be the default font - so it doesn't seem like it is possible to manually revert to the former font.
Do you know what font that was?
According to this thread, it was/is Athelas.
Ouch!!! I see what you mean now. That is REALLY hard on the eyes on my screen. It's like a glare or something - like it's too bright or something. You can really see the difference in Rosie Perera's comparison post over there.
It is the manner in which the font is displayed, not a different font, apparently.

Boy this is surely subjective from what I gather on the other thread. I guess it would be nice to have the old default style available for those who preferred it. Screen resolution and differences in our eyesight are playing a role. I'd support letting those like you who like the old font having it as an option.
Edit: Looks like what other said as I was typing and fooling with fonts means you can't get the font back because you have it?? HMM.
In the light of Bob's earlier comment, I am hoping he didn't overlook to allow us to choose between the renderings, but that this can be addressed quickly.
+1 on preference to use the rendering as offered in 4.0. A choice, if possible, would also be welcome.
There are a number of exhaustive threads about this already - some launched by myself as I was unhappy with the appearance of the font. It's all about the updated font being "unhinted" as opposed to "hinted" (I had to check Wikipedia).
Latest is that a future update might offer us both versions, hinted (softer appearance) or unhinted (Sharper appearance).

I found a font on my machine that I really like, called Georgia. Since I tried that I am very happy. It is very sharp and easy to read (I have bad eyesight).
It's also known as Kingsfoil [8-|]
The real question is: why doesn't changing the default font change the font in ALL windows? It seems silly to be able to change the font only for resources. The same is true of the new background colors ... why only the resource panels?

Besides the Bible LOTR is about the only book I've ever read more than once.
