Mac - move resources to external drive

Is there a way to move my Logos resources folder to an external drive? The only relevant posting I could find on the topic was forums/p/21625/162204.aspx where a Logos employee stated, "This is theoretically possible, but it's not officially supported." That was from 2010.

The basic problem is I have a MacBook Air with a ~110G SSD, and Logos is eating 26G of it. I'm running out of space, and would prefer to move all my resources to an external drive. Any suggestions?

It theoretically might work to copy the resource folder to a thumb drive and then make an alias named. Worse case senario with this is requiring you copy back your folder to the folder.

My suggestion would be to move something else to the external drive. Logos is not the best performer on a Mac, and running Logos from an external drive would only slow it down, whereas the best performance comes from it being on an SSD. I have a 128 GB SSD, so I moved my music and photos to a second drive. iTunes and iPhoto/Aperture work quite nicely on a second drive.

Relocating Logos from SSD to an external drive has potential for slower response in Logos. Also need external drive attached when want to use Logos.

Thanks. Though I'd prefer a less-hacky way, moving the Logos4/ folder to my external drive and symlinking it back to ~/Library/Application Support/ did the trick.

has there been any updates that makes this easier? I'm considering getting a MacBook Air, and it seems ridiculous to me to pay $300 more (or 35% more) to upgrade from 128gb to 256gb. If I could sit my logos library on an SD card, for $35 I can pick up a 32gb SDXC card that'll hold my library, and free up the smallish installed 128gb ssd.

The short answer is "no," and it is unlikely that we will see any movement. For a number of reasons, Logos installs its files in the OSX user directory. Since this is stored on the main internal hard drive, you don't have many options. I am sure that if someone is hyper techie, they would be able to figure it out... but if you are asking the question, you probably don't count. [:P]

Thanks. Best buy is currently selling the 13 inch 128gb for $849, vs $1124 for the 256gb. I'd prefer the 13 inch due to bigger battery, and I still have an iMac with 12GB RAM, so I'll be all set for most things, it'd just be nice to have my logos on the go on my notebook as opposed to my tablet.
