Multiple Crashes Logos 4 - Passage Guide, Biblical People, Places

Hi guys: I'm experiencing multiple crashes in Logos 4. Passage Guide, Biblical Places and People. Biblical Things, Exegetical Guide, and Word Study seem to work normally.
I've included on zipped LOG file from when Passage Guide crashed.
Logos Version is 4 S.R. - 3 (4.0.3.2492)
Anyone have any ideas?
John

John,
We haven't seen the error in your log file in any other cases, so we'd like to have you delete a file that may be corrupt to see if that resolves the problem. Close Logos 4, and delete the file BiblicalPeople.lbsbpd. It is found in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Data\rzlmn145.uyl\ResourceManager\Resources.
Please let us know whether or not that resolves the problem.
Thanks,

A unique error, just for me! I feel so special.
I deleted the biblical people file and of course that part of Logos 4 doesn't work anymore. I tried biblical places and L4 crashed again, so I deleted the 2 files with biblical places in the name. After deleting those 3 files I ran a Biblical things report, a Bible explorer report, and a Passage Guide report (all which had crashed before) and they ran normally. No problems.
As near as I can tell, those 3 files (or 2 of them since I deleted 2 biblical places files) were the cause of the crashes. Can they be "fixed" or something? They are a really cool part of L4!

My understanding is that the files will download automatically. You might try typing Download now in the Command box.

I tried Update Now and it downloaded a 26M update to Logos, but when it goes to install I get a message that says "The cabinet file 'product.cab' is corrupt and cannot be used.'"

John,
I'm not from Logos, but the error in your log file is "The database disk image is malformed" and now the error you just reported is a file corruption. Two different file corruption errors make me think that it's possible you are having problems with your disk, especially since Logos hasn't seen the error before.
How old is your computer? Have you had any system crashes recently that might have caused corruption? You may want to run chkdsk on the drive to find disk errors, if you are able to do that. Just a thought--Hopefully Logos has more insight.

John and Todd,
Development is saying the same thing, that it sounds like a bad hard drive. I agree that checking the disc for problems would be the next step.

Checked it and it said everything was fine. Still need some new biblical people and biblical places files. Update now doesn't do it.

Logos Tech Support remotely installed 2 of the files and it looks like they work! I have to wait for the DVD for the large map file, but I ordered that anyway.
Oh, and he also told me it might take up to 10 minutes before anything starts updating using Update Now, so I might not have waited long enough.
Thanks for your help, Melissa. I appreciate it.
Thanks to Logos Tech Support as well! You guys rock!

I'm not having that problem on my Vista 64 laptop. I deleted all 7 biblical places and things files and replaced them with the laptop files but still crashing when using places, things or people.

Alex,
Would you enable logging by pressing the Ctrl key and keeping it held down when you open Logos 4, until the Sign In screen appears. Click on Sign In to enable logging for just that session. Then reproduce the crash and attach the resulting Logos4.log file found in \Documents\Logos Log Files to this thread.
Thanks,

Your log has the same error as Kenneth in this forum thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/2749.aspx. The problem was with his video adapter driver. In his case, the driver was current, however, he found that when he loaded an earlier driver instead, the problem was resolved.

Thanks Melissa. I'll look into that and let you know.

Hello Steffen,
Your log has the same error as the user mentioned in previous post. Try updating or rolling back your video card driver.
Thanks,

Thanks Melissa.
The link to the user in the previous post seems to be dead. Do you have an up-to-date link so I can read it?
Thanks!

Hi Melissa.
I also need to know that Kenneth and I have the same device driver, but the link you've given doesn't work so I can't read that thread. I've tried searching but can't find the thread that way either. If we don't have the same driver, then rolling back won't necessarily do anything.
I've checked and my driver is up-to-date. When I try to roll it back, I'm told that I need the XP installation disk. I'm away from home for the next few weeks, so that won't be possible.
Besides, this doesn't seem to be the best way forward: if there's a bug in the driver that's causing a crash, we should surely let the manufacturer of the driver know so that they can fix it? Otherwise, when they next update their driver to fix some other issue, I'll have to choose between the up-do-date driver that fixes that and the out of date one that doesn't have this problem.
I'm happy to contact Dell, assuming that the log file has all the information they'll need, but I'm thinking that a large company like Logos will have more joy than a mere end-user. What do you reckon?
Thanks again,
Steffen

Steffen,
I apologize. The link in the other post was on our private beta forum that was used during initial beta testing, and you wouldn't have access. This is what Kenneth said: "...went out to Dell and loaded an earlier version of the video driver and lo an behold it worked." Since it is asking you for the XP installation disk when you try to roll back the driver version, it may be using a Windows driver rather than the manufacturer's. If you have a Dell computer, or one from another major PC manufacturer, check their website for drivers.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, one of our support technicians can assist you next week. The phone number is 800-875-6467 and email is tech@logos.com.
