Delay in Highlighting

Hello, I own Logos 5 for my Mac as well as using it on my iPhone and iPad. I am using notes on a new resource (Ryrie's Basic Theology) to prepare for a class I am teaching. I like to do my markup on my iPad (4th gen, iOS7) since if feels much more natural and aesthetic. However, on some sporadic occasions, it takes a significant amount of time for my highlights to "stick." By this, I mean that I can see the color covering the selected text (see comparison in fig. 1 attached), but all further highlighting becomes unresponsive until I either 1) wait for 15 seconds of so or 2) turn the page and then turn back.

Now I've read some on these forums that it might be due to a large note file or many notes connected to a specific resource, however neither of these are the case for me (only 3 pages of notes if printed; just started reading resource). I've wondered if it had anything to do with whether or not I am on wifi, but the result is sporadic under both conditions.

The strange thing is that sometimes the highlights show up almost immediately and at other times it takes a long time. If I want to change the color or add a note quickly, I have to switch pages and then come back to the current page to access the context menu for the highlight. This disrupts the flow of reading and notating.

Any help on this?

Your experience is not unusual.  Nor convenient.  I always 'solve' it by re-starting the app.  I've not seen Logos recognizing the problem as a problem yet.

Despite D's comments, I have never experienced this, nor do I know of any large number of users experiencing this [unless, as you mentioned, there are large note files involved].

D's suggestion is good (killing the app). Also, have you tried doing a full shut down of your device? How much free space do you have? How many downloaded resources?

Can you tell me about your note taking strategy / note files?

    Tried, with no success.

Tried. The first highlight came through right away; the second and following delayed again. Sporadic...

How much free space do you have?

    iPad currently says, "1.1GB"

    How many downloaded resources?

    Only 6.

I am somewhat new to this and still developing my strategy, but I have several note files, such as "Notes on the Middle East", "Notes on Josiah", Devotional Thoughts", "Exegetical Highlights", and in this instance, "Bible Doctrines I Reading Questions".

I did find somewhat of a workaround. Instead of flipping to a different page, a two finger up/down scroll seems to "stick" the highlight immediately. Not a final solution, I trust.
