Does anyone know about this solid state hard drive? On sale for 132.00.
The 840 Evo is one of the best SSDs out there right now, according to several websites. Crucial's MX100 is the main competitor.
I've seen it new for 118 on Amazon, and considering getting one myself, to upgrade my imac. (That's a normal Amazon link, but if you buy through it, I get a small advertising commission!)
Samsung has a good name. Get it!
I used one of these in a macbook pro and it worked very well (I had previously tried a crucial ssd but had problems with periodic stalling). Amazon had a good price on these.
Will this work on a late 2008 Mac book?
I have had one in my mbp 2010 for 2 years. I have been so impressed that I put one in my wife's mbp (also 2010) last month. I did not bother looking for alternative models, only the best value evo 240 that I could find.
you might consider a larger capacity. The drive is likely to outlast the computer and could always be out into an external caddy and used as an external drive at some future point.
this apple forum topic tends to suggest that these drives do work in the late 2008 machines. the thread is 2 years old ... And the first couple of posts are not strictly relevant ... https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3821163
