Bible Facts?
Biblical Facts doesn't seem to be working on my new install of Beta3. i can type in Israel, Abraham, etc and it finds nothing. Is this a problem in the Beta?
i just installed the Beta using the free upgrade as my previous install was L4. (running Win8 on 64-bit machine)

Its working for me.
I seem to remember that there are certain resources required for the full power of L5 to work right. Those "datasets" are available through the Minimal Crossgrade. A quick email to Rusty Davidson (rusty.davidson@logos.com) and you could purchase it.
Someone who knows better than I may have a different answer, but if I had to guess, I'd say thats where the glitch lies.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

It looks like some resources are missing; try entering "update resources" in the command bar to download them.

After entering the command it said that there was 9 MB of resources.
Clicked Download resources...it downloaded quickly
Clicked restart Logos in the download info bar...L5 restarted.
No difference in Biblical Facts....perhaps it as abondservant said. i haven't purchased a minimum upgrade nor a crossgrade.

More Biblical Facts datasets can be purchased for use in Logos 5 and Verbum. Wiki has => https://wiki.logos.com/Upgrade_or_Crossgrade

i have seen several (many) people on the forum suggest to L4 users: is there any reason you haven't upgraded to the Free L5 version?
This seems to be a big reason for L4 users not to get the Free version if they don't want to purchase an Upgrade or Crossgrade at this time. They will loose the Biblical People/Places/Things ability in the Free L5 version until they are willing to purchase said upgrade/crossgrade. i use the Maps very often in my studies. Fortunately i have multiple user accounts and have L4 on a different account.
i understand that those who suggest this are doing it with good intentions. But they should add a warning when they suggest this.
i also understand that Logos would have to do quite a bit of programming to accommodate L4's Biblical People/Places/Things in L5's Free version and i would Not expect them to do so.
For right now i need to finish paying off the new computer before i can think about an upgrade/crossgrade.

I was not aware that this was the case and it contradicts the guidance given at https://wiki.logos.com/Upgrade_or_Crossgrade

Yes i have done this a few times. It went out and got a small file (9 MB) and i allowed L5 to restart after the download. But Biblical Facts is still empty and doesn't respond when typing things into the box. Also in the Tools drop-down menu there is only Biblical Fact (no Biblical People/Places/Things) which is what i would expect. (i am totally new to L5 and very green in understanding it yet)

Perhaps this is an issue with L5 Beta3 which i have installed into that user account.
Guess i could try creating a 3rd user account and install L5 ver 5.2b (but from the few threads that i have read there is a problem running L5 standard install on the same PC as L5 Beta3 installed).

What you get in the Tools menu is something like this (this from 5.2b stable but it is the same in the 5.3 beta - just had my 5.2 system more easily available!)

I thought that meant that - while it was required - if you had it in L4 it should still work.
Hopefully someone who understands this better than I do will be able to comment further.

There was, but Bradley posted a workround at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/88684/625260.aspx which seems to have worked for some people. I have my 5.3beta and 5.2stable running on different computers so haven't looked into it.

I don't think it's a licencing issue. Your indexer log specifically mentions Biblical Places, People and Things. There were also some difficulties in your error log regarding downloading your licence.
I don't know what the solution is, but I think it's being caused by some kind of glitch, rather than by the lack of a crossgrade.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

5.3 Beta 1 is not compatible with the latest versions of the Bible Facts resources. This will be fixed in Beta 2.
(Only users who have installed 5.3 Beta 1 for the first time in the last three days are affected; unfortunately, this includes you. But for anyone else who's thinking about trying 5.3 Beta 1, I'd recommend waiting until Beta 2 ships.)

The actual root cause was republishing them for 5.2b SR-3 (which hasn't been released yet). If you remember this thread (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/88777.aspx) we had to quickly unpublish some resources that were crashing the stable version of Logos. We republished them, but bumped their version so that they'd only download when 5.2b SR-3 (with updated code to handle them) is released.
We neglected to verify that the updated resources were compatible with 5.3 Beta 1; as it turns out, it claims to understand them (and so downloads them) but can't actually read them.
5.2b SR-3's code will be merged into 5.3 Beta 2, so it will be able to read them correctly.
