The App is Broken
I love Logos but I have spent the last three days with a useless app on my iPad. It started when I noticed some of the books in the Meredith Kline collection were not available, especially the one I wanted to read. I would have thought that maybe they were not all available on mobile but I checked my iPhone and there it was. So I tried uninstalling the app, big mistake, and reinstalling it. I have now done this three times and all three times the app has started downloading all of my resources without asking me. This is unacceptable behavior from an app as I have over 14,000 resources and do not want them all downloaded. As I said I have done this three times to make sure it was not aberant behavior and it is not. When I push the cancel downloads button is says canceling downloads for about ten minutes and then begins to download them all. Have the iPad plugged I this entire time and the battery still drains down to zero. This is very frustrating and I sure would appreciate any help to get my iPad back to a usable device again

How have you configured the app (either previously on mobile or in Logos 5) in terms of which resources you want downloaded?
Are the over 14,000 resources configured to be downloaded or are they downloading "on their own"?
When I push the cancel downloads button is says canceling downloads for about ten minutes and then begins to download them all.
Not sure how that is designed to work but I would expect that the app will try and download resources which you have marked for offline access
EDIT: If you have them all set to download you can select them all in your Logos 5 library and deselect them for download to your app - that could help

Did you ever (historically) tell Logos to download all of your resources? How many resources did you have downloaded previously? Did you try the command rebuild index before deleting the app to see if you could recover the lost books? How large are your note files (size and quantity)?

A "rebuild index" (lowercase, no quotes) entered into the Reference field on the Home page would most likely have taken care of this problem without having to reinstall.

If I had known about the issue on the first day I would have been in a better position to help you. If something like this happens in the future please let us know right away - chances are there is already a solution.

Can't tell if 'problem solved'. But I had a similar issue (though not the whole library) and it turned out to be the checkmarks in the Logos5 library (mobiles). They may well have fixed this issue, but just a possible.

[8-|] This worked for me on Verbum when I couldn't locate a couple books but it did take a few minutes to complete (the little gear spinning at the top in the menubar will go till it is done).

I appreciate your willingness to help me in the future and I understand I should have reached out sooner but I still need to get my app back to a usable state now. How do I get my app to stop trying to download my resources? When I hit the "cancel downloads" it says cancelling downloads for a few minutes and then resumes downloading again. This is the most frustrating part, the app does not do what I tell it to do.

I don't think so. Most but not all. No. Very, very few notes.

where? I would love to deselect them for download but can't find where.

where? I would love to deselect them for download but can't find where.
Open Logos Desktop and then click on the Library button, then type either Cmd+A (Mac) or Ctrl+A (Windows) to select all of your resources (you could also select the top resource in the list and then scroll to the bottom and then Shift+click on the last resource).
Once they're selected, deselect the checkbox on the right that corresponds to the App and Device and then sync Logos Desktop and restart the App on your mobile device.

I don't believe this has been a problem for a while but I will attempt to reproduce the issue and write up a case. For more information on how Cancel All Downloads works please see http://community.logos.com/forums/p/65082/455549.aspx#455549 .

Most but not all.
If you told the mobile app at some point to download "most but not all" resources, then it is trying to redownload "most but not all" resources again.
This is one of the big reasons why I really don't suggest users download large amounts of resources (I have less than 200 of ~5000).
Kevin gave instructions about mobile management from within L5. Let us know if you have issues with that. I hope you get things back up and running soon! [:s]

I appreciate all the help and do not consider myself technologically impaired but I do not see any check boxes in my library on the desktop. I sure would like to get my app back to usable so I can start reading the books for my class that started last week. I have never been so frustrated with Logos in my life. Would have been that difficult to have the app ask if you wanted to download the books like it used to?

I apologise for the frustration you've been experiencing.
The app still does ask, but if you ever say "yes", it remembers that answer (across reinstalls), rather than repeatedly asking you. This "memory" was designed for the very common scenario of downloading your preferred Bible and a few other key resources; we felt that if you had to reinstall, you'd want those books that you explicitly selected to be downloaded automatically.
On the other hand, if you choose "Download all", it now has the ramification that a reinstall will respect that preference. As alabama24 mentioned, it's not something we suggest doing, but it was a very popular request (http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-5/suggestions/523625-iphone-ipad-ipod-icon-for-download-all-avai), which was why we added it, even though it wasn't initially in our design of the feature.

Would you suggest that Alan "manage" his mobile devices and delete them? Would that provide him a "fresh start"?
I'm sorry, I don't actually know. I'd have to ask a mobile/sync team member on Monday.
Selecting all resources in the desktop Library and clearing the checkbox for his device should work to prevent the device downloading all resources.

"manage" his mobile devices
But clearly I need to do that and clear up the obsolete devices in my screenshot! [:)]

Thank you! That got it to stop trying to download everything and makes the app usable again however, the Kline books STILL don't show up. I have tried the "rebuild index" command on the home page and no go. Still frustrated.

I guess the fourth time was the charm. Index rebuilt and they showed up! I did manage my devices and had quite a few to delete. Thank you everyone for finally getting this solved! This is the best forum for help I have encountered. God bless you all.
