Logos support for iOS 5.x
When Apple releases iOS 8 (probably sometime in September), Logos will drop support for iOS 5.x. This is a few months away but we wanted to give everyone a heads up.
We intend to leave the apps in a workable state for those unable to run iOS 6 or above.

It sounds like you mean to exclude 6.x as well. Is that what you mean?
No - I've updated the post.
I was under the (false) impression that every iOS 6 capable device could also run iOS 7… turns out the iPhone 3GS and iPod 4th Gen can run iOS 6 but not iOS 7. Although the number of iOS 6 customers we have is extremely low, we won't drop support for a while yet - maybe early next year.

For Christmas I bought myself a first generation iPad with 64GB just to read my Logos library from Vyrso and Logos. I will be happy as long I can read my books and take notes. Note taking from my iPads is very important. (I actually preferred the note feature before the last update which seems to assume that you want to only highlight. I usually don't.)

what do you mean? Note taking is a simple procedure in the app, with or without using highlights.

You can get the previous behavior by double-tap-dragging to select, or by turning off "Swipe to highlight" in the view settings.

Thank you! "Swipe to highlight" was on.
"double-tap-dragging" is not a good idea. It is why I, and many of my friends, gave up on touch pads. It is too hard to control. A simple drag can turn into multiple taps. Our fingers bounce along the surface producing unwanted taps. It may be the lack of humidity in Arizona?!
I used to choose HP laptops simply because they included a "turn off the touch pad" button. More recent laptops turn off touch pads when they detect the presence of a mouse or other pointer device.
Back to "swiping". When I tried to duplicate my swipe problem earlier this morning I found that my iPad was very sensitive to page turns. I actually couldn't induce it to highlight instead of turning the page. How does one differentiate the two?

To highlight: touch, pause half a second, swipe.

To highlight: touch, pause half a second, swipe.
That is working, at least under current conditions. [:)] I tried with and without "Swipe to highlight" enabled. At least while I am focused on the task at hand it works pretty well. Perhaps I should have some more practice sessions under various conditions.
The way I take notes usually requires multiple selections. I like to copy a wider swath of text to be pasted to the note body. The note title is usually a much smaller subset of the text and is selected second.
Thanks.

My first gen iPad has been crash prone for months when running Logos.
Hi Anthony,
I have been having crashes on Logos/Vyrso startup for about 9 months. I have found that things are pretty stable if I double click the screen button on the iPad and delete all the other apps from the bottom of the page before I start Logos or Vyrso. BTW: This need to clean out the apps seems to be required for more applications than just Logos.
Using the double click method is clearly faster than booting the device.

My iPad is also first generation. I had real problems with Logos crashing or failing to start for some time in past versions of the software – and I posted about it here and here (among others) in the forums – then I used the approach of clearing the Logos standby app as David suggested and that provided a work-around. However, I haven't needed to use the work-around for about the last three updates. The app is stable. However, I only really use the app for reading.
Hope you get
Every blessing

Thanks Alan,
I had in fact read the second linked posted back in late April/May and used Paul's suggestions.

Although the number of iOS 6 customers we have is extremely low, we won't drop support for a while yet - maybe early next year.

Unfortunately the amount of time the mobile dev team can spend on testing/fixing iOS 5.1.1 related issues is limited. Logos' customer usage of iOS 5.1.1 is around 2.5% and dropping fast. The iPad 1 was released more than 4 years ago and discontinued just over 3 years ago - this is a very long time in terms of mobile devices and soon (just like many other vendors) we also will drop support for iOS 5.1 (although I don't know exactly when).

I have two ipod touches one with ios 5 the other with ios 6. They both upgraded to logos 3.4.5. Now they have blank data from the info link where it used to list text, lemma, gloss and morph. I am thinking that the app store should not have allowed my ios 5 to update to logos 3.4.5. But the ios 6 still has the same problem mentioned above.

Is there any way to get a previous version of the bible app when the look up function worked for greek words? It still works on my android app.

No, but the next stable version should correct this issue for iOS 6.x users.

Android 2.3 support will be dropped very soon as mentioned here: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/86001.aspx

i wish that my ios 5 device would not have been allowed to upgrade to 4.3.5.
Will my android 2.3 devices also be allowed to upgrade to a state where the info function will not produce greek word info?

is there any way that ios 6 could be prevented from upgrading to a version of bible app which would render the look up function inoperable?

Logos 4.3.6 fixes an issue with iOS 5.x devices: please see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/92322.aspx

The Look Up function is intended to work in iOS 6. Sometimes bugs happen - sorry about that.

Bothe ios 5 and ios 6 upgraded to bible 4.3.6. The look up function does not work for neither ios 5 or ios 6.

As mentioned earlier, the next stable version (4.3.7) should correct this issue for iOS 6.x users.

FYI, I use a 4th Gen iPod Touch and was hoping not to have it replaced for some time.Logos 10 | Faithlife Connect Essentials
