SUGGESTION: Logos Family Share

When the new version of iOS comes out Apple will introduce “Family Share.” The way it will work is everyone who has the same credit card associated with their iTune account will be able to share their media purchases.

I think this would be a great idea for Logos as well. I realize my wife can use my email and password to use my library on her computer, but every layout and document she creates and modifies changes my documents. Moreover, if Logos really wants Faithlife to take off each member of the family need their own account and profile, to share an account kind of defeats the whole social media thing Logos is trying to create.

Honestly, this is more an issue with contracts & publishers and how they view their licenses than it is with Logos (or any other Bible software platform). Still, would be nice to see and I've wondered how such things will work with purchases of apps that are then tied to a specific account on the company's end.

Just read that Amazon is going to implement Family Share like Apple. Granted Logos may not be able to negotiate an agreement with all publishers, but this makes a lot of sense.

Logos please note that when I talk to people about Faithlife one of the first questions I get asked is, "If we purchase a Logos Base Package, can we both us the software?"

This is not an unreasonable question and expectation for a married couple. If you want Faithlife to take off this needs to be addressed.

My wife and I share one Logos. We prefix layouts with the first letter of our names like J_layout1 and C_layout1 to keep Jim and Connie's layouts separated.

Here are the steps to accomplish this.

1. Creat a group in Faithlife.

2. Invite other faithlife group membes to become a part of your group.

3. Go to documents.logos.com and share the note file with the designated group.

You can do this now with Faithlife groups. If you create a Faithlife group, you can share Logos Note files with members of that group.

That is what I suggest to this couple, but each want their own Faithlife Profile, if they do this only one will then have the library associated with their profile.

I realize there are ways to work around the limitations of a couple to share one account, however Faithlife has complicated this. One of the nice features of Faithlife is the Social Networking, here sharing an account profile is not as convenient. Let us say both Dick and Jane are members of the same Faithlife Bible Study Group. Each want to participate by posting to the discussion tread. If they are sharing the same account, let us say Jane's Logos account, all the other people in the group will see Jane's name and perhaps her picture when Dick posts to the board. Yes it is possible for Dick to preface all his posts with the messages, "This is Dick, Not Jane," but that is not very convenient and compared to other social media like Facebook, does not compare very favorably.

They same will be true for community notes, "Is that Jane's note or Dick's?" and prayer requests, etc.
