I think Webster's 1828 Dictionary is a great dictionary used by many in preparation for their sermons as far as looking up definitions from dictionaries, since it is one of its kind, so full and complete and with scriptural principles used as examples at times.  There were only a couple of things that made me hesitate on making a switch to Logos for a little while, and one of those was that 1828 Webster's isn't in Logos, and the other was certain features a simple program such as Sword Searcher has, tabs for different books and commentaries, and Logos implemented those kind of features in it's latest release, which is great!

I already gave up on hesitating around five months ago, and the program is excellent.  It would be nice if there was an offer of Webster's 1828 as a lesser expensive individual item.

It is available with just the KJV & Dictionary for $50 "The Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary and King James Bible, Libronix Edition on CD-ROM" by the same publisher (F.A.C.E. )

I don't see it on www.Logos.com but if you call Customer Service tomorrow they might have it in-house. If they don't you can find it "out there" on the web. (I just did.)  Still, I have the Collection and the rest of the books are very much worth the price.

I just found Webster's 1828 for $35, but it says that it doesn't work for the Mac.  Is this old news?  Now that there is Logos Mac, I'm thinking it would work, but I'm not sure.  I'm assuming that disclaimer was put there before they had it for the Mac.

Jason, I am curious if it does work with the Mac. I have not attempted Logos on Mac yet and wondered if the older resources like this one will work. Please let us know when you try it. btw: Good job shopping around. $15 is a substantial savings percentage.

I just received my copy of Noah Webster's 1828 dictionary from The Berean Call today.  And it works great!  Works for the Mac!  I think the reason it was originally advertised as not being compatible for the Mac is because it was before Logos Mac 1 was even released.  I'm even more happy with the Logos program now!  And when the new version is completed, it'll bring the convenience that I liked in my old Bible software program (the tabs for the different commentaries/Bibles for quick view instead of opening new windows.)

It'll be neat when/if we see John Gill's commentary on pre-pub or community pricing!  On that note, on average, how long does a book/set normally stay on community pricing before it gets published for Logos?

It'll also be neat if they ever publish the pre-1611 English translations based on the traditional / received text line.  I know it's probably not a priority since most don't use the older ones as a standard anymore, but it'd be neat to be able to compare, plus they're in the public domain so don't have to worry about licensing costs.

I rely upon Gill because he deals with ever single verse and well I might say.

I sure hope that one day he is on prepub or community pricing.

Thanks for this thread!  I have wanted to get this dictionary and did not even realize Logos had it!

Did you have to do anything special to get it to work with the mac?  I just got a brand new Mac Computer and I was wanting to get the Websters 1828 Edition on there.  I don't even have the Logos Software, but I'm thinking about purchasing the Logos Software and one of the main reasons is so that I can get this Dictionary.  Was it a simple process to get it to work?

Simply had to go to Tools, Account Management, then Resource Installer and sync licenses.
