Give Notes Ability to Organize Notes into a stable order Outline for papers/presentations/sermons

I have a strong suggestion for a powerful improvement to Logos, which, it seems to me, shouldn't be TOO hard to accomplish since you can almost but not quite do it now...

I didn't use notes much back then, but it seems to me older versions of Logos allowed you to move your notes up and down into a stable order, as well as indenting them to make headings, subheadings, "body" clippings/quotations with commentary and the like. Now I'm doing my doctoral research, and I assumed that I could do this, so, to help organize my research clippings with commentary notes from 4000 resources, I made notes that were just a category heading with a description of the category, without indentation, as a main heading, notes indented once as a sub-category with a description, and then had two indentations for notes that were clippings/quotations from my searches, with my commentary notes. The idea was to move my existing clippings with commentary under the proper heading notes, and then, as I continue going through my search hits, adding new clippings with note commentary and moving them under the appropriate category. Later, even moving clipping with commentary notes above or below others within a category in a preferred order. This would result in an outline for a presentation of my research, and this kind of organization of notes could be an outline for any chapter, paper, sermon, etc.

Unfortunately, I can move the notes up and down, but they don't stay in a stable order, since I can only sort the notes by date added, resources, etc. I would hope it would not be too complicated technically to improve the software to be able to display the notes in a user-fixed order for an outline, since you can already move them into a preferred order (a faster way to scroll while moving up or down many notes would also be an improvement).

Thus I strongly suggest these technical improvements. In the meantime,

Welcome to the forums.

There is an ability to indent notes - see indent icons beside add note. I don't have an old enough version installed to check if the behavior of moved notes has changed.

I usually do outlines in MS Word then copy and paste, I always have to do some indenting work, but it does go a lot faster.

Notes in Logos is pitiful for those of us who do a lot of no5te taking or organizing our thoughts, in its present form Notes is like a scratch pad.

Actually, I didn't know that capital letters are taken to indicate screaming (they don't sound that loud!). My intention was merely to emphasize the question, to set it apart from the rest of the text, in the hope of getting some suggestions for the meantime. Thanks for the "netiquette" tip.

I didn't know that capital letters are taken to indicate screaming (they don't sound that loud!).

My wife used to type everything in all-caps. She thought it made it easier to read. [:)]
