Looking up a word in a Hebrew bible
does anyone know how to get past the prepositional prefix on a Hebrew word in order to get to the root lemma when you highlight 'lookup'? For example in AFAT Ps 91:3 'mippach' will only show me the preposition 'min'. I have had this a lot and wonder if there is a way to get beyond this .

Word Lookup supports multi-word selections - have you given that a try?

I'm using my iPhone or ipad on this. Where do I find multi word lookup?

Thanks Kevin. I knew that, but what I am talking about is when you have a word like 'mippach' which is one word made up of a preposition and a noun. Logos gives me the preposition in the lookup, but not the noun.

I see what you are talking about Jeff. There is another construction just like this two words later in Ps 91:3 that gives you the noun lemma (deber) as opposed to the preposition (min). I looked up the word "mippach" in the LHB and it listed the noun (pach) as the lemma as opposed to the preposition (min). I think there may be a different tagging scheme for this word in AFAT.

I'm not sure about the iPhone, but I imagine that the ipad will give much the same results as my Windows machine. If you scroll down on the right-click option for the word, you will see the lemma without the preposition. You can then look it up in HALOT or EBDB (don't you dare tell me you're using Strong's).

If the Look Up results are incorrect on the iPhone it will be incorrect on the iPad as well. I've discussed Jeff's issue with a developer and will write up a case.

Not sure which one the iPhone uses as default. But I tend to like TWOT

Mike, I checked out LHB and see what you mean. I know there are different ways to get at the root word, but it is just easier to do the lookup ifi am just reading
