Anyone have any comments or experience with this series?
Thanks
I think the series is excellent. I'm taking a 1 Corinthians class with Dr. Craig Blomberg, and Preben Vang's 1 Corinthians volume is a supplemental text for the class. Blomberg writes, "A creative new format that combines brief exegesis with excellent suggestions for teaching." Personally, I have found the exegesis to not be so brief, and the format very valuable and useful for all kinds of ministry contexts.
just noticed this and might "have" to buy it... planning a series on 1 cor soon. Going to have a look through it before i decide. you can buy these separately by the way.
I really like it. I've found it helpful in researching the text, thinking through application, and preaching.
I wrote a good deal more about Luke (here, by R.T. France, one of my favorites, RIP!) and Romans (here).
Definitely would recommend at least those two (whether in print or Logos, etc.) for preaching prep.
To my surprise, I really like it too. I'm preaching through Romans at the moment and have found that volume excellent. It's exegetically grounded, and the sections on "Teaching the Text" and "Illustrating the Text" are very stimulating and helpful.
I'm also continually impressed by how much depth those authors (especially R.T. France) have been able to fit into six pages per passage.
