In the Gospel of John, ego eimi is significant. How can I use Logos to search John for all instances of ego eimi?
Thank you!
If looking for the manuscript phrase, search a Greek NT bible using "ἐγώ εἰμι" (with the quote marks).
For other possibilities use lemma:ἐγώ BEFORE 1 WORDS lemma:εἰμί
Quoting and searching the Greek NT does work (Thank you!).
Is there a way to do this search in a Bible with a NT interlinear (such as the NRSV)?
Dan,
Dave Hooton's second method will work for Bibles with reverse interlinears. Choose a "morph search" and input the following:
lemma:ἐγώ BEFORE 1 WORDS lemma:ἐιμί.
Also, using the "lemma:" command will allow you to simply type in transliteration and select the appropriate word from the dropdown box:
lemma:egw BEFORE 1 WORDS lemma:eimi.
Excellent! Thank you!
lemma:ἐγώ WITHIN 1 WORDS lemma:εἰμί
includes verses like John 7:34 albeit John 18:37 crosses a sentence boundary.

ego eimi is significant in the original Greek and searching for it in a reverse interlinear will give results for eimi ego because Greek word order is reversed to align with the translation e.g. Jn 3:28, Jn 7:34, 36. If you want to see the result in a RI then do the following:-
Another effect of changing word order is that a translation will give results like Jn 1:20.
