Need Help with Reading Plan

I desperately need help how I can make Logos 4 work for me. There are 2 basic things that I need to do but I am not sure how to do it.

1. I want to set up a plan to read scriptures from One Book from the Bible every morning for my devotion. For example, I want to select the book of Proverbs for the month of Decembeer. Every day I wake up I want to read myabe a chapter at a time. HOW CAN I DO THIS?

2. I have some books in my library that are quite interesting. I want to be able to select one of those books and read a chapter or two every day for my Devotions. HOW CAN I DO THIS.

I really need help here as I am overwhelmed with all of the things that Logos can do. But because I am so confused, I am not able to get the benefits yet. Any help (Step by step instructions) will be highly appreciated.

Go to "file" then "reading plan." Click on the links to set it up any way you want. It's really pretty simple and intuitive...

This is fairly straight-forward:

click on File, then Reading Plan.
a window like this will open up:

3. select which bible you want to read from, select the passage (in your case, Proverbs), select which days of the week you want to do the reading, select the starting date (perhaps December 1st) and the time frame (you can specify the end date).

4. click Go!

This may be a little more difficult, depending on the resource. As far as I know, there is no way of specifying the amount you read each day, just the time frames (when to start and finish, and on which days to read). You may just have to play around with the time-frame until you find one that has a few chapters each day you want to read. If the resource has page numbers, you can schedule a reading plan for specific parts of the book, but not how many pages to read each day, unless I am missing something.

As far as I know, there is no way of specifying the amount you read each day

In the "finishing" drop down, "verses" is the number of verses per session (day), although it won't always be exact (if a reading gets adjusted to start or end on a pericope or chapter boundary). For resources with page numbers, specifying the number of "verses" per session is actually the number of pages per session.

I can't figure out how to set the reading plan to end at a pericope or chapter boundary in L4. Is there a way...I really need this since I read a ch of Prov, one OT and one NT each day and need to be able to read one chapter each...each day of the week. Thank you all so much...L4 Rocks!

If you follow the instructions in my post above (Nov. 24, 2009), that should give you a good idea. When you click on the drop down to specify what you want to read (where it says All Passages), in the top box, type (or copy and paste) this (without the quotes): "Ge-Mal | Matt-Rev | Prov" That tells Logos to take a portion of the OT, a portion of the NT and a portion of Proverbs each day. How to get this to do a chapter of each each time, I do not know, sorry.

Stuart, thank you. Unfortunately, my main concern is having the one chapter per book, per day. I don't even mind setting up three separate reading plans for now if need be, however, your recommendation would allow me to set up just one if I could just have the one chapter of each per day. Just open a new reading plan and copy and paste this into the box

isaiah | mark

and name the passage as you see in the picture (you don't have to name it) and then pick the duration and things and choose "go"!
