DEPRECATED? What does this mean?

Hi,

I look at the about page of Logos 6 and found the following:

Licensed to: **************@gmail.com | DEPRECATED Diamond v5 (IH).

What does this mean? Stick out tongue

You might need someone to confirm this officially, but I think you'll find it means it's the L5 Diamond, which is no longer sold, as there is a new L6 Diamond base package available now.

I have that too for my L5 Portfolio.

"Deprecated" in computer lingo means obsolescent.

I think it's an unfortunate choice for them to have put that word in there. It usually is used of a feature or programming construct considered outdated, and planned to be phased out, but still available for use. Deprecated means the makers of the software strongly prefer that we don't use it. But with Logos, old base packages will continue to be useful indefinitely. There should be nothing urging us strongly to upgrade to a new base package or even to Logos 6 (until Logos 5 is no longer supported, which will be a long time). Having that word DEPRECATED in the About Box is going to make people think there is something deficient about their installation, which is absolutely not the case.

Please, Logos, reconsider this strong language.

Sure glad they didn't mean me personally.  I'd hate to be deprecated.  Or be obsolescent-ated.

When I first saw that word, a few years ago, I'd never heard of it before, and I thought it was a typo for "depreciated." It kind of does mean de-appreciated.

I think it means you can't have children.

It's a bug. I have it on L6 Portfolio with L6 denom packages..

It may mean they are deprecating the display of library version there?

This was probably added internally as a hint to our sales people to avoid selling the L5 package by mistake. Your library is not actually "deprecated"; the Logos 5 libraries are still completely functional and supported.

I'll put in a request to get this changed.

DEPRECATED went away (server-side change as this went away before updating to SR1), but it's still reporting the wrong library version. Shows v5 instead of v6.

My license version is now blank.

Logos retrieves that information from the servers each time you open the About dialog. Since the server is down it is unable to determine what to show there.

it's still reporting the wrong library version. Shows v5 instead of v6.

    That's true for me, too.

    Mine doesn't show a version:

And what's up with the double (LE)?

Also, it must be showing the highest level purchased, because I haven't purchased Platinum since L4---I've got L5 Silver and L6 Reformed Silver.

Thank you. That was quick turnaround! Fixed already.
