Unable to retrieve chart data
I am in the Atlas tool, search for Return from Exile. An (almost) empty chart comes up. After a few seconds, I get (but not always) a message in a yellow/orange bar "unable to retrieve chart data".
What's wrong and how can I correct this. Update resources does not work.

Its working for me but I remember seeing the error message you mention previously.
I wonder if it is related to the current issues Logos have with their server environment.
Suggest you try later and see if the problem persists.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused. It's probably due to the heavy load on our services - we've been seeing sporadic errors on our end.
It's intermittent, so retrying (if there's a retry button) or restarting the app should try again. If you're consistently seeing errors later today (maybe give it a few hours) or if no maps are showing up after retrying, posting a screenshot/logs could help.
No luck today. The charts are not "populated" but remain as they are.
I recall that when updating a few days ago to version 6 (and downloading a lot of new books) the update stopped and I did restart my Mac. The update went fine after that. Perhaps it is still a server issue. What else can I do? Do I need to empty a directory to initiate a fresh update?

Maps are delivered on the fly from Logos' server. Perhaps it was down? (It works for me at the moment.)
