Are you running Win 7 or Win 8
If it is Win 7 you should be able to get smart tags working. The L6 installation breaks Smart Tags in word but it can be repaired. I did so through all of the Betas that were released.
Try running these two commands in Windows
"%LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos5\System\Logos.exe" /register
regsvr32 "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos5\System\L4SmrtTg.dll"
Copy and paste just as they appear.
If you are running win 8 I do not know if they will work.

In Logos 5 it was called smart tags. But it no longer works in word now after loading Logos 6.
What I want to be able do is : type Matthew 5:3-8 in Microsoft Word – highlight it and it copy the complete verses over from LOGOS 6 into word.
This could be done before by highlighting Matthew 5:3-8 then right click - additional action - copy verse.
How can I do this under Logos 6 without leaving word - going into Logos 6 - looking up the verse - copy verse - then back to word?

The Logos4 or Logos5 directory IS dependant on where you're install is. If you upgraded from L4>L5>L6 it will probably be Logos 4.

Like I said I have never tried this in Win 8. Logos5 is correct.

I believe that the 64bit version of Logos is not compatible with MS Word SmartTags. At least I've not been able to get it to work.
You can use the Copy Bible Verse (CBV) feature of Logos by pressing CTRL-ALT-B (when Logos is running). This will invoke the CBV. Then you can choose to copy to the clipboard or paste directly into your Word doc at the spot your cursor was. This does require more steps, but for now, I think it's the only option for those with a 64 bit version of Logos.
I would love to be proved wrong on this. So please, if you can make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about, chime in.
EDIT: Once in the CBV, CTRL-G will highlight the input box (or whatever it's called), where you can type in your passage. You don't need to "look it up first" or copy/paste from an open Bible. You should also choose the CBV format you prefer (Logos will remember it for the next time you use it).

Smart Tags will work with 64 bit logos. I have been running 64 bit since L6 Beta 1 and 32 bit office. They have to be repaired each time there is a program update (not a resource update). Using the two commands I entered above has worked every time.

I ran the two commands you provided. I changed to Logos 5 to Logo4 after looking in my directory and verifying that Logos 4 is true for my case.
Then I rebooted.Opened up Logos6 and Microsoft Word. Type a verse in word - Highlighted it- Right Click - Additional Actions - Selected Copy Verse.
Works like it did in Logos 5.

Good deal. I have those two commands pasted into a document I keep on my computer. Anytime there is program update use that document to retrieve the commands

Am I glad to be wrong! (I won't pretend to always be glad to be wrong, but when it comes to stuff like this, it's great.)
Your commands above would be different for some of us, as for me Logos 6 is under the Logos4 directory. But that's easy enough to change. I'll copy & keep it in a Logos note file for future reference.

Okay, so 10 minutes after I got it to work SR1 was released and smart tags were gone again.
The good news is that your commands worked and restored smart tags.
The bad news: I hope I don't have to do this every time! Logos, can you fix this behavior?
In the meantime, maybe a batch file would make this even easier. It's been a while since I wrote any batch files, but I think it's as easy as writing a text file in notepad, including the commands on two lines, and changing the extension from txt to bat. Right?
EDIT: I just created a batch file that seems to work. NOTE: please edit (in Notepad) to include your path to Logos. For me it's Logos4; for others it may be Logos or Logos5. You will also need to rename it by deleting the .txt at the end (I couldn't upload a bat file - probably a good thing). Put the file somewhere you'll remember, then next time you need to, right-click and choose "Open" (in Win7), or "Run" (if applicable).

When you update to Logos 6, it installs on top of your Logos 5 directory. That makes it so you don't need to redownload all of your resources and documents. If you installed Logos 6 from scratch, then the directory would not say Logos 5.

Because Logos does not change the directory name when it updates. If it did all the registry entries would have to be changed, and who knows what else. It's simpler to just leave it.

How very discouraging after all the ballyhooing on this new product and buying it that this piece that I use for every sermon is not working, or requires an IT person to make it work. I feel like I've been bitten for buying the upgrade. Sounds like this is a pretty flawed release . . . Windows 8 Logos 6 64 bit 2010.

If you installed Logos 6 from scratch, then the directory would not say Logos 5.
Unless you are on Mac. I think. I know that (for strange, technical reasons) a fresh install of L5 on Mac would be put into an L4 folder. I assume this is the same for L6.

If I upgrade to a newer version of MS Office does the problem go away? Running Windows 8 with Logos 6.
I realize this is an unsupported feature, but it is one that almost everyone uses all the time. Is there a plan to fix this even though it is unsupported?

I am running Windows 7 with Office 2013 and L6. Logos still breaks Smart Tags but the fix discussed in this thread fixes it. Without being able to see exactly what you are doing it is hard to say what the problem might be. I do not know if it has something to do with your win 8 installation or something else.
Bradley indicated they had this on their list of fixes for a future release, maybe that will eventually solve you problem.

If you upgrade to Office 2013 the problem is the same, but MS have changed the way you activate the feature (see the wiki and links to Logos.com). With the next version of Office, MS could remove "Actions" altogether or require a change that Faithlife aren't prepared to accommodate 'unofficially'.

Microsoft has officially deprecated Smart Tags, so it's more likely to stop working in a newer version of Office. That said, the current Smart Tag does support Office 2013 (32-bit and 64-bit).

I'm not at all sure that the batch file was the way to go but I went to update it anyway this morning and broke Smart Tags on my desktop.
Last week they did not work. I ran the batch file posted and everything worked as expected. Went away camping for the weekend. Pulled it up this morning to edit it. I modified it to 1) change the directory as mentioned; 2) use the "start" command to launch logos.exe so it doesn't hang waiting; and 3) added the following registry commands:

WinWord lists the extension as available from within the Option settings, but it never shows up in the right-click menu. If I uncheck the option for Logos, close everything, run the batch again, then when I open WinWord the option is checked, but still nothing in the right-click.

This is the first time I've modified the registry to attempt a repair of smart tags. Normally just running the two commands is all that has been necessary. I just added it to the batch as per the wiki and earlier thread where it was discussed to "ease" the procedure. Is it possible the registry modification caused the failure?
Also, at what point in the process does Logos.exe process the /register argument? Will it process it if it is already started or does it need to be closed and relaunched with the argument?
Additionally, and way off topic, is it normal for the installer to always install the install files into the .\Logos directory? Even when installing/updating the actual Logos files inside the pre-existing .\LogosN directory? I upgraded my desktop from the setup file from the email when I upgraded. I upgraded my tablet with "update now". Both have Logos data in the Logos5 directory, and both now have active and recently updated .\Logos directories containing just install files.

Having a similar problem. Ran the 2 commands from the Wiki:
- “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos5\Logos.exe” /register
- regsvr32 “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos5\System\L4SmrtTg.dll”
but they wouldn't run. Figured the problem was the path to the \Logos5\ directory, so put the path in manually (as I had previously done a custom installation and put Logos on my 2nd hard drive (logical drive F:), and both commands worked. Ran Logos and Word and the right click menu in Word to see Additional actions, Options. Made sure Enable Additional Actions and Logos Bible Software 5 (Bible References) were both selected.
However, when I type a bible reference and right click, Additional Actions still does NOT show the menu that used to enable me to replace the reference with the text, open bible to the reference, etc. What should I do next?
I'm a bit leery about modifying the registry. I opened regedit and verified that the 1st and 3rd registry keys (referenced in the Wiki instructions) are there (which I'm supposed to delete) and that the 2nd is there, showing the correct path to LogosCom.exe under Win64. However, I'm not sure how to delete and restore keys safely, so I'm a little hesitant to mess with this!
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Verify that you're not running Logos or Word as Administrator; if you are, Windows will block communication between the two programs.

Thanks for responding, Bradley! Yes, both commands opened a message box with the word "successful". However, I'm not sure how to determine if I'm running either Logos or Word as Administrator. I don't think I've changed anything, but if you can tell me how to know, and how to change the setting, if needed, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
