Please lay out verbum base package pages like other base packages

It is very very difficult to compare what is in the verbum packages to other packages because of the layout of the verbum pages.

There are no sweet little graphs which tell you how many datasets, media collections, etc. are in each level.

Then, the actual resources are in a completely different order from every other base package page including the chaplain's and biblical language packages.

It took me quite a while to determine that certain media items were not included in Verbum packages.

I assume it would make no difference to you if Faithlife change the Verbum pages to accommodate people who are not as quick as you?

The Verbum crossgrades page and link doesn't provide any details on whats included on the Verbum site. (At least thats the ways it was up until this morning and when I first started looking at the Verbum crossgrades.

The Verbum crossgrades have to be search for on the main Logos site to find the "whats included" information.

Don´t like the fact you cant get a "new to you" option on the verbum site

Yes I know they are not in the same order, but they have different ways of classifying them. It would be nice if they tried to put the data bases last on each site.

Damian, are you looking at https://verbum.com/compare? SineNomine seems to have been commenting on https://www.logos.com/compare/Verbum. He may have simply wanted to suggest to you that you'd have a better experience there.

(I've hardly opened the Verbum site myself, but now that I do, it doesn't look very ready for launch. I think I read a post by MJ saying that they've been very low key, and that she suspected they have some particular feature[s ] they want to finish before making the 'real' Catholic launch.)

I was actually looking at the Logos site...

My issue was, first and foremost, the placement of the media items and datasets on the Verbum pages of the Logos site (which are not in the same place as all of the other base packages). There are items included as datasets on the Verbum pages which are not datasets (eg. Books.Logos.com Subscription) and confuse the count. The items are not in the same order. and need to be rearranged to correctly compare with Logos packages.

With all of the other base package families, it is very easy to open each page and compare what datasets and media items are included. I did not find it as easy to compare with Verbum

I didn't save the spreadsheet.

Looking at it again, I can't really compare the "Interactive Media" section as, I think, they give different names to the same thing. Verbum and Logos Gold have the same number of items, but Verbum has things like "ancient number converter" and "Bible event navigator" not found in Logos Gold's list. Logos Gold lists "Bible People Visual Timeline", is this in Verbum?

Under datasets, Logos Gold lists "Lemmas Datasets" and Verbum lists "Greek Grammatical Constructs", neither found in the other's list. Verbum, under datasets, also includes: Books.Logos.com Subscription, In-line Search, and Notable People Dataset.

Media is a bit more confusing because the Verbum page combines images/videos/maps whereas media and maps are separate on the Logos Gold page.

Verbum includes: Catholic Answers Video Library, Word on Fire Video Library, and the Verbum Treasury of Sacred Art

Under Media Collections, Logos Gold includes: Preaching Themes Slide Art and Proclaim Media

Under Atlases, Maps and Media, Logos Gold includes 300 Quotations for Preachers, with Slides and The Bible and Its Story (10 vols.)

That's after hunting through the lists again.

How are the repairs going?

We finally finished repairing one of our other churches about six weeks ago. We're now working on the Old Church (combination of some outstanding repairs and some renovation work). Really, that stage feels about closed. Thank goodness and thanks for asking.

Thanks. I never bothered to check the datasets, assuming I'd buy Capstone and it'd contain them all. As for the other sections you mention, I noted the specific Catholic additions, but again never bothered to look further, assuming that I'd probably get what I wanted, and if not, I should be able to pick the rest up cheaply afterwards through a crossgrade. It didn't seem worth the trouble to investigate. But I'm happy to take advantage of someone else's work.[:)]

I wish Logos at least learnt from one launch to the next! Yes, the software developers seem to have learnt quite a bit, but the website part is as bad as last time, if not worse. We saw exactly the same kind of inconsistencies and unfinished pages two years ago. And still no Catholic forum where we can complain and be heard.

Let's hope it stays so! After about 18 years or so in the same parish, a priest here had seen all the churches through extensive renovations. Then the vicar suddenly decided to convert, less than a year before retirement. He became the new vicar, absolutely sure of one thing: church renovations was something he was not going to spend his time on. He didn't even have time to get installed before the church next to his house burnt down! And if the irony in that wasn't enough, the last Mass was on Ash Wednesday, and the First Sunday in Lent starts the season when we use an old Litany including a prayer against fire. Too late...
