Logos 4 Hymnal (playing the MIDI files)

Has anyone been able to get the MIDI files associated with the various hymns to play? When I select the MIDI option on any of the songs in the Logos Hymnal, the song selection appears correctly, but it doesn't seem to load completely; therefore, the song never plays.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Christina

Which resource are you looking at?

They play for me with the Logos Hymnal Media Resource. On the short-cut bar, next to layouts a media bar appears with a play/pause, tracking timer and an "x" to exit the midi player. Does that pop up for you? If it does and you hear no sound, check your Windows sound settings and ensure that midi is not muted and is set high enough to hear.

The tracking timer does not appear and has never appeared whenever I select MIDI. Perhaps this is the problem? Do you have any ideas how I can get the tracking timer to appear? I do have play sounds selected in my settings. Also, where can I check in Windows to make sure the MIDI sound settings are correct? I couldn't find it. Thanks

I should have mentioned that the pause and X selections appear, along with the song title; but nothing else concerning tracking appears.

Can you play other midi on your computer? (search your computer for *.mid files and try to play them through Media Player, or the midi player of your choice). Or go to www.cyberhymnal.org and download/play a midi hymn from there.

Which version of Windows do you have?

If you know how, run dxdiag and report the version of DirectX you are running.

    Hi Christina,

I have the same problem using XP on Parallels 5. I do not have the problem on my desktop also running XP. I think it is the Direct X version and the limitations of Parallels 5. If you are on a PC you may try updating your Direct X software to the latest version.

I'm actually running XP SP3 on Fusion 2 and didn't think that might be part of the problem. I'll try the suggestions given and see if that works.

    Thanks!
