Is there an easy way to create a custom plan for reading through multiple resources (these happen to be in a series) in the course of a year? I figured this'd be a pretty simple task, but I can't figure it out.

Here's one option, though it would involve a lot of highlighting and clipping. It might be faster than the built-in CRP tool, though.

This is one of the things I'm slowly working on...finding faster ways to do reading plans. Unfortunately, I have a real job that takes the time I need to work on my little projects.
If I come up with an easier way, I'll be sure to post it here. You do the same if you beat me to it!
