Question about Visual Filters

Hi Everyone,

I tried searching the forums first and couldn't find anything so forgive me if this has been answered before. I actually have two related questions. First, I was curious is there a way to turn off all community notes across all resources or must I do them individually for each resource? I thought there used to be a shortcut that brought up a menu that allowed you to set it for just that resource or all resources but I can't seem to remember what it was.

My second question has to do with the category boxes. I know that if I click on the arrow to the right of Community Notes or Notes I can click "select/unselect all" and that will remove all the check boxes and then make the notes disappear. What I don't understand is what is the purpose of the box next to the categories Community Notes and Notes? I would assume that unticking that box should make all the note files that fall under it no longer appear in the text. But as you can see in the screen shot below both my Community Notes and Notes boxes are unticked yet the notes for both still appear in the text.

If I need to untick each note file individually to make them disappear, what is the purpose of the tick box next to the categories?

If you right-click on a Community Notes title you can choose "Show in all appropriate resources" or "Do not show in any resources". Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to do this for ALL Community Notes files at once. You have to go through the list and do this for each one in turn. But at least you don't have to do it individually for every resource that those notes might appear in.

It appears to me, from trying it out, that the tick box merely greys/ungreys the options beneath it. If the options beneath are greyed out, then it's the same as if they were all turned off. But turning on the tick box only enables the checkboxes below to be active. You still have to choose "Select all" to turn them all on.

Ahhh yes. There it is Rosie. I was clicking on the category instead of the individual note. Thank you. I knew there used to be a way to do it. Thank you for reminding me how.

If I'm understanding this correctly, I wonder then if maybe it was a bug? In my screenshot I have the category turned off (with all the notes below it greyed out, albeit ticked) but yet you can see that the notes are still appearing in the text. After reading your response I went back and tried again and of course it's working properly now (just like taking my car to the mechanic - it never misbehaves when it's supposed to).

I would have thought I'd correctly guessed what the purpose of the category tick box is, but I don't know for sure what it's meant to be used for. Evidently it doesn't work the way I thought it did. So either it's a bug, or I guessed wrong. I don't see what is the point of disabling the checkboxes below if the checkmarks in them still take effect. I will need to defer to someone from Faithlife to answer what their intent was and whether this is a bug.

Unchecking the "Community Notes" checkbox should turn them all off (as if you had unchecked every single group). This sounds like a bug, but I've been unable to reproduce it. Do you have specific steps to reproduce, or a screencast of the problem?

Hi Bradley - what I tried was this

Starting off with no notes enabled

enabled the top one

deselected the "Community Notes" header

and the "Faithlife Beta" entry seems to show it is still selected

(I am running 6.0b b1 if that is relevant)
