About Indexing
Indexing does require a lot of disk space -- at least as much space as your resources require.
If your indexing crashes, it's (likely) either disk space or something we didn't anticipate in one of the LDLS 3.x resources already on your system. Sending the log files will be a big help in identifying these resources. (We don't have an archive of every version of every resource that's been released over the past decade.)

After Install goes OK, it starts Logos 4, login goes OK, than starts indexing and crashes. Log file says the problem is cookies (see attached)
I use Vista Business SP2, 2 GB memory, NVidia card etc.

I also am having Logos 4 crashing out on indexing. I am running XP SP3, IE8 and have 62.3GB free space on my C Drive. The majority of my resource files are however located on an external drive. I submitted error report to microsoft as suggested, and have attached the logos4 and logos4indexer log files. Other log files were mentioned in the post about log files but no locaiton was given for them and I could not find them. I did try a restart of my computer and noticed on reboot of windows logos icon was in system tray trying to do download an update. It only got a few percentage points through and crashed out of that also.... the download of resources took around 3 hours.1401.Logos4.zip

Andrew,
We want to collect some more detailed information from your system. Please place the attached "Logos4Indexer.NLog.config" file in your "My Documents\Libronix Log Files" folder (the same folder where the Logos4Indexer.log file is currently located). Re-run the program, then post your Logos4Indexer.log file for diagnosis.
It is not there for me. I've tried both IE 8 and the latest Firefox to no avail....
I tried the uninstall and reinstall on my Win 7 machine and wound up with the indexer crashing again, I'll post the log files as soon as the add attachment button is available.

How can you tell the status of indexing? Install went fine, the program is up and running, I can run passage guide, exegetical guide, etc. Run Search and click Bible and it tells me the library is still being indexed. Set it to All Passages in ESV and tried a few searches and it did not turn up any matches. I am pretty sure the word God appears somewhere in the ESV.
I assume the search issue is an index problem? How can I tell how far along indexing is?
It's like having a baby; waiting for the indexing to finish! [:O]
I've got 14 resources to go and I feel like handing out cigars!

mine has done the same... several times.
It will probably also be helpful to note that if you get Windows complaining that the indexer isn't responding, you might as well kill the indexer straight away.
I left it running on my dual-core because I noticed the number to do was still dropping. Unfortunately when it got to one, it stayed there (makes sense, one thread must have been doing all the work and the other which stopped had claimed that last book). On restart, it looks like all of the books are being done all over again. Hard lesson timewise, but perhaps I can stop others from experiencing it too.
Lynden,
I don't know...better give them to me and let me check it out!

Logos 4 Indexing keeps crashing. I have oodles of disk space.
1. Do I have to be connected to the internet while the Indexing occurs.
2. The tray icon used to give me a % downloading. The last number I saw was 64%.
3. Now the blue tray icon says ... "preparing your library... stage 1 of 3". Then crashes.
I am impatient.

Hi Stephen, I'm unsure if you posted this somewhere else but if you can post your log files it would be great. I think there already is a thread on the indexer crashing specifically, if not you can go ahead and post here, we are working on a hierarchy for organization and it'll be ready real soon!
My computer does not crash and all of my books are generally present in my library; however, Logos 4 will not stop indexing. When it finishes, it starts all over again. I have no log files, I have plenty of disk space. This has been going on since last Friday. No one has yet said anything about this being a problem except for me that I am aware of. Is there any way I can get Logos 4 to quit indexing other than just pausing it every 4 hours?
Bob, I indicated yesterday that I have virtually no C: space and that this will not change. Since I have not heard anything from you or your team concerning the option to allow us to chose the install drive, it leaves me in a quandry. Even now, on my vista 64 bit machine, I am not crashing however the indexing has gone down to 0 twice... yet at this moment the blue V4 icon is missing in my system tray but the program is telling me that it is still indexing. I am not able to help you all if we don't have some communication on this. Is custom installation to be allowed in Beta 2? when would beta 2 be out, about 2 weeks like we had in Libronix 1 alpha and beta ? should I rename Drive c to drive x and then rename a new empty drive to Drive C and then reinstall V4? If I this would/should work, what would need to be done with the current version of the beta... just unistall it? Clean the registry? I need some direction on this please. Since this is the holiday it gives me some extra time to work this out before I get back to chuch time on Tuesday.

Bob did mention somewhere that in future releases we will be able to store and read stuff in different locations. Right now I am in a similar boat as you. All my books are on my Mac drive and I don't have the space to put them in two places (Mac and under VMWare). So I am working with a limited books set until that time. Kind of difficult to really test it hard, but I guess we have no choice.

So to clarify, if I have 10GB of resources, the index by itself will be at least 10GB?
