Adding Verbum Basic to my L6 Package

As I've got a $50 code burning a hole in my pocket and a Thomas Aquinas-sized hole in my library, I'm considering adding Verbum Basic to my Logos installation (for me, it costs the same as the Summa alone). I have a couple questions about Verbum I'd appreciate a little help with:

1. I don't want to convert to the Verbum interface; I want to keep the standard Logos one. Do I need to do anything to prevent that from happening? Also, which is better for me to use: the download link given after purchase or "update now" within the existing installation?

2. This package includes the Early Church Fathers Catholic Edition. I already have the Protestant edition, and I understand there are no differences in the texts of the two. So:

a) Is there any use in keeping the second edition in my library or should I just hide it?

b) (And I'm pretty sure of the answer to this but I'll ask anyway): is there anyway to save myself from the big download of the ECF-CE if I'm just going to hide it?

Hi Sean,

I added Capstone in Logos 5 to my Logos Portfolio base and nothing changed for me except all the new resources and there were options you can turn on and off but for the most part my Logos Standard Base stayed the same even when I got the Catholic base. I do have both the Protestant and Catholic Early Church Fathers, but its simple to only use the Protestant stuff. For me, I love having both available though. You can use it or hide it. No matter what you decide you will still have the big download.

No (except from not installing the standalone Verbum desktop application)

given your intention: "update now" is your way to go

Sometimes there are resource links in books or Reading List items etc that go to a specific edition, rather than a ECF datatype (iirc, there are works with no datatype assigned so it can't be helped). In these cases, the link will not show a preview and clicking it will purport you don't own the resource.

not that I know of.(other than convincing CS to take the licence out of your account - note that you can't transfer it to someone else)

The catholic edition is a subset of the protestant edition, if you have Protestant, you have everything in Catholic and more. However, because of some minor differences that don't matter to a protestant they are different editions. IF you email support, they will generally give you a discount if you own the protestant edition (it may work the other way as well, but I wouldn't know).
