It's not Hebrew-specific, and a bit conversational, but Misreading Scripture Through Western Eyes is quite good as entry level.

Oddly enough, my leapard spot book is exactly on this subject (search 'leapard' in Logos.com). It's really quite funny, since the scholars are all scrambling just to guess who's writing (much less who's reading). I haven't finished but I think he's headed for Africa for the nearest match.
