Hyperlinking in Logos4 - How do you do it?
Would someone please explain in step-by-step detail how to hyperlink a word or phrase contained in an L4 note that has been created, to a book source or Bible passage within the L4 library? For example, if I have created a note in a particular paragraph of say, book A, and I want a word or phrase in that note to be hyperlinked to say, a particular page in book B in my Logos Library, how do I create that hyperlink connection? In L3 it was quite easy and worked well, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it in L4. I have figured out how to hyperlink a page in my library to a word or phrase contained in an "outside the Logos library source," such as a Word document, but I can't seem to figure out how to place a hyperlink within a Logos 4 note to a particular page of a different book within the Logos4 library.

As far as I know Logos is working on this one. I really hope so because it seems being able to hyperlink to resources is wasted without being able to easily create them in Logos notes. Below are the directions I have come up with. Basically, create the hyperlink in a Word processor and then copy/Paste it into L4 notes.

Then, open a word processor, like Word
Finally copy your link from Word into your note file.
Yes, I know it's cumbersome, but until they get this as a native function in notes this is what you have to do.

Thanks so much for taking your time to respond to me regarding hyperlinking. I am in the middle of studying for final exams right now, but later this evening I will give your instructions a try. On the surface, however, it looks like a rather lengthy process just to create a hyperlink within the Logos 4 notes file. It seemed very easy and quick with L3. Is hyperlinking something that is still being perfected and worked on for Logos 4? Regardless, I will go through your steps later tonight and see if it works for me. I'll let you know, but thanks again for your time to help me out.

Once you learn the shortcuts Its not too lengthy but lengthier then it should be. I would love to hear a time table on this feature from Logos.

As Philip stated, I think they are working on it. I hope they are working on it since this is rather cumbersome. I used to do this in L3 for web pages and for files on my HD, but I don't want to do this for all references to resources within the program. I'd rather stick with L3 until they fix this.

One simplification: once you've selected the hyperlink style you want (URL, Wiki, HTML), you don't have to click to get the resource menu, and then click again to copy the hyperlink, each time. Instead, after you've set this preference, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-C, and it will grab a hyperlink to the spot you're on.
The rigmarole about using Word is because there is still some missing functionality for capturing and storing hyperlinks: that's definitely on the list to be addressed.

I am pretty sure the following works for me:
Type the link text into the note.
Highlight the link text, and paste a Bible reference into the Hyperlink box.
Press Enter.
The text changes colour and is turned into a link. I don't know if it is a recent fix or not - I am using SR7.

This all works fine for me, except the hyperlink does nothing when I click it. I can see the link info in the Hyperlink Command Box, and the text in my note is underlined and formatted as a hyperlink, but has no functionality. am I missing something?

In order for the links to work, you have to be editing the note. Click the note to edit it, then hold down the CTRL key and click.

Thank you, the Ctrl-Click worked! can this be done with Clippings also? I can't seem to get any hyperlinks to workin the text area of clippings.

Thank you! Ctrl-Click does the trick! Now can anyone tell me if you can also add or modify hyperlinks in the text area of Clippings? I have had no luck with these same procedures.

I don't believe you can make any changes to text in clippings. However, the blue heading from each "notecard" in clippings will take you back to the source book.

You can change the text of clippings -- just click in the text area and it works similar to a note text. You can even paste a link like you can to a note file. However, as far as I can tell, you can't actually activate the link. What's interesting is, I had the libronix dll pointing to Logos3 and it did open the program, but didn't open the resource.
